Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

A mezze plate of salami, ham, hummus, tzaziki, olices, sund dried tomatoes and a chunk of olive bread. DD was out all day so this was just a case of opening a few packets and spooning/presenting in an interesting manner. grin

Prawn risotto tonight. I just cleared out my freezer and discovered some chubby prawns I'd forgotten I bought. There's some BBQ ribs in there, too. Think I'd better lay off the shopping whilst I run stocks down.

Reprise of last night's chili. Lost a pound at the Fat Club weigh in - some refer to it as Slimming World but why pretend - so looking forward to a nice glass of red wine tonight.

Can't really be bothered this evening - so possibly poached eggs on toast. White bread. My husband makes the best poached eggs. Mine you could bounce around the kitchen grin while his are gorgeous, with the whites nicely set and the middle lovely and runny......

Just finished aubergine and tomato lasagna - a GH recipe - not one the best I have tried

Mamie Wed 18-Jun-14 19:15:07

Salade niçoise. Lots of ingredients from the garden including the first globe artichoke of the season. Followed by our own strawberries.

NanKate Wed 18-Jun-14 19:17:29

BeeWitch could you send round your hubby to cook us a couple of poached eggs, they sound yummy ?

All the female side of our family are flat chested and my dear old mum used to say that we only had a couple of poached eggs between us !

A corned beef hash it's a Delia/ Waitrose recipe and it is a real store cupboard standby.

papaoscar Wed 18-Jun-14 19:22:37

Thinly-sliced pig's liver, smoky bacon, gravy, tiny new potatoes, garden peas, followed by fresh cherries. Washed down by a cold sugar-free tonic water.

NanKate Wed 18-Jun-14 19:29:07

Sugar free tonic water sounds awful Papaoscar hope you have hidden it under some alcohol. grin

papaoscar Wed 18-Jun-14 19:35:59

I'd much prefer a large ice-cold Schweppes tonic water with a generous measure of gin (or two), NK, but sadly diabetes etc. rules that out these days, hence the sugar-free substitute.

I used to love eating a Mars Bar PapaO but gone are the days of indulgence and it not showing on my posterior. I do occasionally eat a small pack of Maltesers - yummy.

Delicious fish pie made by DD but not enough as SiL and his son had it too so I have had a couple of fig yoghurts and am still hungry. May have to search out the chocolate biccies I bought this afternoon or maybe a bowl of cereal or perhaps another glass of wine hmm

rosequartz Wed 18-Jun-14 20:05:25

Delicious hmm fish pie made by M&S (but I don't suppose it was as nice as yours, Marmight). It was a Count on Us one but we also had peas and leftover cauliflower cheese which meant the calorie counting got a bit lost. DH had a M&S cottage pie. (We were worn out from shopping). No wine tonight!

NanKate Wed 18-Jun-14 20:12:04

Marmite fig yoghurt sounds lovely who makes it please ?

I fancy coffee yoghurt but have never seen it.

glammanana Wed 18-Jun-14 20:13:45

Chips & egg for tea to-night - love it.grin

whitewave Wed 18-Jun-14 20:16:35

I love egg and chips with ketchup but the chips have to be home made frozen ones have no taste i think

Bez Wed 18-Jun-14 20:20:14

I am having a starving day today so gave DH ham salad at lunchtime so tonight I made cheese omelette and we had green beans and endives with a slice of maize bread.

glammanana Wed 18-Jun-14 20:20:23

All home made whitewave parboiled before putting into to cook and crisp,I'm not too fond of ketchup but must have "semi-runny" egg yoke to dip chips into.

whitewave Wed 18-Jun-14 20:21:28

yes and me -really I could eat eggs any time

papaoscar Wed 18-Jun-14 20:28:27

Yrs, NK, Maltesers just about slip into the treat cupboard unnoticed. The other half likes them but I'm not so keen. I put a pack of normal size Snickers into the freezer and find that, frozen solid, they taste good and last a long time. i like to regard one of them as a nice 'pudding'. Much better, I think, than the Snickers or Mars ice creams.

gangy5 Wed 18-Jun-14 20:29:16

DH is on his second session with Slimming World at the moment so we had one of their recipes. It was called Golden Mac'n Cheese. I won't say what I thought of it!!?? Nothing like Macaroni Cheese which is a fave. The salad was nice though.

glammanana Wed 18-Jun-14 20:32:30

gangy5 Its worthwhile looking at their recipe for stuffed aubergines its in one of their "Curry Books" but is available on line to copy it is so good, serve it with cous-cous and chunky tossed vegetables well worth searching out.

seasider Wed 18-Jun-14 23:56:13

Maggie. I am searching for good slow cooker recipes. How do you make lemon chicken please?

Marmight Thu 19-Jun-14 07:01:03

NanKate Activia do fig yoghurt. I get it from Asda and Tesco. It is really yummy!
