Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

No - don't! It may be that a gremlin has switched them (has happened before) but all will be sorted first thing!

Fridge almost empty as I leave tomorrow so for dinner had an avocado, 2 cold fish fingers left over from lunch, 2 clementines and a prune yoghurt and no, I don't have indigestion - yet! grin

Just had to have another post tonight I made a chorizo and butter bean casserole which I have made before but today decided I had been a bit too frightened of smoked paprika so went for it with a little bit extra!! End result VERY, VERY HOT casserole which I didn`t want to water down so decided would serve with sour cream (immediately dismissed by DH) and wheaten bread - end result delicious - with a very distinct afterburn but we have both to this minute have survived. wine

Love this thread! Tonight have had a venison steak, sauté spuds, carrots and peas, washed down with a glass of cava.

We have had something I've never cooked before. Ostrich steaks with jollof rice and a green salad. It was lovely. I would eat ostrich again.

Haven't seen ostrich for years - Sainsburys used to sell it, I remember.
I wonder what happened to it? Ostrich farms were a popular investment at one time...

Just enjoyed a meal cooked by DH courtesy of Tesco's Two for £10, and relished every mouthful- Moroccan lamb filo parcels roasted Mediterranean vegetables and a scrummy crumble plus glass of red wine. Lovely not having to cook when got back from shift on hectic hospital ward since 7.30 this morning.
NB: Must do this more often grin

Salmon in a cream sauce with baby corn, sugar snaps and saute potatoes . DH had a chocolate mousse type dessert and it was all from Aldi and it was all very good. I did cook the salmon and made the sauce with my own fair hands.

hildajennij ostrich is my favourite meat, there was an ostrich farm close by where I used to live, I miss it hugely.

We had potatoes dauphinoise, steak marinaded in red wine, olive oil, garlic and herbs, then lightly grilled, with baby French beans. A very french meal really. Fruit afterwards.

Just have to tap into this thread once again to let you all know tonight we have just enjoyed

Sea Bass (lightly fried in lemon and lime juice and will admit a knob of butter)
Home-made chips cooked in oil and ground pepper and sea salt.

Tartre sauce is the best I have ever tasted from a jar it`s Maille Tartre widely available in Tesco`s.

Scrummy back to the wine (and I do know one shouldn`t drink red wine with fish - but do I care no I don`t) happy Saturday I`m back to the rugby

We are going out for a meal tonight with DD, SIL and DGD to celebrate my DH's birthday on Monday and also Mother's Day as they only have time to pop in for half an hour tomorrow. I wonder what delights await us smile

I cooked a piece of gammon in the slow cooker and we have had it with sauteed potatoes, carrot fingers and sugar snaps and a mushroom, white wine and cream sauce and DH is finishing off with M+S profiteroles which I bought on the Dine in deal. Artery clogging on a plate and it was delicious.

We had hamburgers with salad and chips. Quick meal as I was going to see my Dad. Tonight I had very boring beans on toast.

I can hardly be bothered to eat an evening meal on this high fat diet as by dinner time I often still feel full from lunch. I always have a pan of soup on the go and tonight I'm reduced to throwing a bit of bacon into the soup of the day and having that. wink
