My granny was very much a 'lady' and as she dunked biscuits (especially gingernuts) in her tea, I feel free to do it too, though I don't like mushy biscuits at the bottom of the mug. As for soup, well, why not?

Yes, I am extremely posh, and think that dunking bread in soup is a flogging offence, the woman should have been dragged out of the establishment by the head waiter.
Dunking in one's own mansion is another thing entirely darling, and I admit that I always dunk ginger biscuits in my cup of Earl Grey.It's a sad fact though, that half of the biscuit always vanishes to the bottom of the cup if the tea is too hot, and one gets it all over one's chin when reaching the last inch or so of tea.

I would never dunk biscuits in tea but would always dunk bread in soup..and I would wipe my plate with bread...Don't know about posh but I like to enjoy my food and eat like the French!

I also dunk bread in soup - the two go perfectly together. I've seen plenty of people doing it in fancy restaurants, too.

Slightly off piste - last year we were given as a gift tickets to a Fawlty Towers experience. I loved the shows but not the experience where you got a meal and actors playing tricks on the diners.

Anyway to cut a long story short I found a set of plastic false teeth in the bottom of my bowl of tomato soup.

The moral of the story never drink soup that has floating objects in it.
