Are you loyal to one tea brand?

My supermarket delivery substituted my usual Tetley's with Another Brand. I don't think I ever consciously decided that Tetley's was my brand - I've just always bought it. Just made myself a cup of tea and had to throw it away. Are you loyal to one brand of teabag? I don't think I realised I was until now...

Having waxed lyrical about a cup of tea with a saucer and made in a pot earlier in the thread, I asked the lady who made it what tea she used. PG teabags was the answer. Obviously my taste buds are rubbish and it's all about presentation.blush

My mother always bought Glengettie and, having tried several other brands over the years, I have gone back to it. It's fairly strong and I think you may only be able to buy it in Wales but I love it. I much prefer tea to coffee.

My husband makes me a pot of tea every morning and brings me a cup in bed. It's loose tea made in a teapot with a basket, it's a large leaf earl gray which he gets mail order in 1kg bags. Have you ever seen a kg of tea, it's like a cushion!
I never know when more tea is needed, I only ever use the tea in the caddie if I'm making more. There is a caddie spoon that lives in the tin and has done so for 20 odd years. I have a matching teapot, mug and teacosy! I think it would be fair to say I'm "brand loyal"!

grannyknot DD keeps Pukka teas at home and she gave me some last week - Three Ginger, Three Mint, and Lemon and Mandarin. They make a nice change from ordinary tea. I have to confess I'm not a big tea drinker - can't drink it first thing in the morning and never with milk or I throw up!

Got to be Twining or Clippers Earl Grey with a soupçon of skimmed milk.

When you are feeling rich.....try a teapig . That is proper tea! They are in some Tescos or on line.

Yorkshire Tea for me every time. Even take it to France with us ?

Grew up with Typhoo in grey box with interesting series of factoid cards on side. Hate tea bags but they are convenient. If it's warm and wet and looks like tea, I'll drink it, but like Lapsang Souchong, Breakfast Tea or Earl Grey/Lady Grey. Also really like herbal teas and if feeling really flush, will treat myself to a box of "Teapigs"

Yorkshire during day time. Last cup of the day is Pukka Relax, or Sleepy Time tea.

Yorkshire for me and DH has Lady Grey. Very fussy about our tea. Worst tea is in the US. They never boil the water and it is usually heated in the microwave. Yuck! Horrid!

My favourite is Quick Brew.....unfortunately for me it's hard to find, but my local Budgens stocks it!! Yipee.

Happyme I love Chai tea. If you don't mind the calories have you tried a Chia latte?

Knightsbridge confused

I have found that it all depends on the water. Having recently moved to the east coast of Scotland from north Yorkshire I can no longer drink Yorkshire Tea as it tastes completely different, and I am now on Lidl knightlbridge ceylon tea bags which are great .

to ''neversay die'' - Red Bush tea, which I drink is naturally caffeine free so is not treated to get rid of caffeine, as are other caffeine free tea bags. just saying.

PGTips! Always!

gulligranny I had a running battle with our local Tesco when they stopped the leaf tea , I had an email conversation with Punjana about it and did shop elsewhere when they sent me a list of suppliers . I think customer services were sick of me , I never managed to speak to the manager ! But they do stock it now smile

Tetley for me, because of kidney problems I use the decaff ones , visitors often ask what brand I use as they have enjoyed it so much.

HannahLoisLuke Sat 20-Feb-16 16:04:10

I used PG Tips for years but thought they'd lost flavour lately. Tried Twinings Breakfast Tea, very nice but expensive. Now use Yorkshire for hard water and it's a good robust flavour.
Like Earl Grey and Lady Grey occasionally.

gulligranny Sat 20-Feb-16 15:47:59

We use Punjana - one teabag brewed in our small pot makes two good strong cups. It's quite hard to find near where I live; our local Tesco can't decide whether to stock it or not, Waitrose definitely doesn't and Morrisons is under-stocked and therefore often sold out. Worth the hassle though.

Happyme Sat 20-Feb-16 15:03:48

For those of you who enjoy a delicate flavour, has anyone tried Chai tea, be warned it is addictive!!

annodomini Sat 20-Feb-16 14:07:47

I am with you,*NotSpaghetti*. For those who like a stronger tea I'd recommend Assam which my DS2 favours. I prefer something more subtle!

I bring back kilos of Yorkshire Gold back to France. Twinings for Darjeeling and Earl Grey, but think I really ought to be going for leaf tea. Working on it.

Tea in France is rubbish - Lipton's is insipid, and French 'English' brands are a joke

Yorkshire tea for us and we both (especially DH) drink a lot of it in a day. Our daughter's in laws get it for us when you can get 2 packs of 480 bags each on special offer at Costco as we don't have one so these stores near us. My mum wouldn't have any tea other than Co-op 99 but that went back to the war days when I understand you had to register at a store for rationing. From then mum and her sisters were always loyal to the Co-op and my cousin still is so it's still always '99' tea for her.

NotSpaghetti Sat 20-Feb-16 13:08:52

I'm surprised so many love the brands I really dislike (PG, Tetley, Yorkshire etc).
Is it because you all like strong teas I wonder - and I would rather have a delicately flavoured tea?
