Weren't they taken over by an American company. If so that would explain it. There are some things the Americans are no good at. Chocolate is one, and cheese and wine is another.

Its horrible now they certainly have changed it and added all sorts of weird concoctions. Whatever happened to ' a glass and a half of full cream milk'- it tastes very odd now. I quite miss a nice large bar of Whole Nut.

yes its owned by the Americans and if you have ever tasted Hershey's chocolate you will know how bad things can get :-(

Kraft foods, who bought Cadbury's have indeed altered the recipe. here's an article from the Telegraph all about it. I'm afraid that I don't like it now, and I used to love a bar of Fruit and Nut.

Actually katex028 I think it is important.
Kraft promised many things and the reneged.
They are using 'other' sweets in their new bars to eek out the chocolate as its cheaper.
Also altering original recipes.
I don't buy Cadburys
I don't buy HP sauce.

I haven't bought Cadbury's chocolate since Kraft went back on their promise to keep the Keynsham factory open. They closed it shortly after completing the purchase and moved the production overseas where it was cheaper (something they must have known they were going to do). Mine is a very small protest and doesn't affect the owners one jot but it makes me feel better to be supporting all the workers who lost their jobs

I'm quite enjoying Tesco cheapest own brand chocolate at 30p a bar.

I agree...cream eggs nothing like they used to be. By the time you had licked out the sickly filling you then had the delicious dairy milk egg to chomp....but nowhere near as yummy as it used to be. It's the same with digestive biscuits...has McVities been taken over?

Cadbury's chocolate is not what it was, the way to go, ladies is with Lindt chocolate especially Lindor & their bars of chocolate with caramel & sea salt, superb!

Yes loved cadburys chocolate and not keen on a lot of the new flavours. It is now owned by an American company so not as good. Had some the other day just didn't taste right.

My DH is chocolate mad. He just can't get enough of it and I have to hide chocolate for the children away so he can't find it. He loves Cadbury's Dairy Milk and given the chance he could easily power through a large bar every night. As a bit of an authority on the stuff he says that it doesn't taste as creamy as it used to.

.......and he hasn't got an ounce of fat on him

In my little world I regard Cadbury's chocolate as the staff of life. Still my favourite and as long as Kraft do not totally change it (agree that the other American brand Hershey's is completely revolting) that is how it will remain.

I used to love Dairy Milk. But since having to eat only 90% chocolate, l think I would now dislike it

It's not just the taste but the thickness of it. Easter Eggs this year were particularly slim.Chocolate used to be thick and chunky but it's been on a diet !

I've given up going to Lidl because of the cheap chocolate. Particularly the white chocolate.

I don't eat much chocolate now but when I do I can't really tell the difference between Cadbury and Kraft. Twirl, Flake and Creme Eggs taste the same (although Creme Eggs have most definitely been on a diet).

I've never thought of Cadbury's as 'real' chocolate. Give me a dark chocolate with a high cocoa content. Belgian chocolate beats the sickly Cadbury's product hands down. I like Aldi's and Lidl's chocolate. Very satisfying.

I suppose it's just horses for courses, anno. I would say I detest dark chocolate and the high cocoa content stuff that's supposed to be so superior. But I will eat it when there's nothing else available! Then again I'll eat cooking chocolate when I'm desperate.

Cadbury's was always my favourite, not so much now. My creme egg fix after Lent wasn't nearly as enjoyable this year.

And what's happened to the size of Walnut Whips!

Although, like others on here I am not a lover of Marks & Spencer clothing, I do like their version of Walnut Whips.....mmmm (we need a chocolate smiley)

Cadburys chocolate is now disgustingly sweet and waxy since Kraft took over, and I am obviously not the only one to have stopped buying it; it is forever on offer in local Coop, big bars for £1. the best chocolate is Lidl, tastes like swiss chocolate and is very reasonable as is everything else in there. There liquorice allsorts are only around 69 p per bag as are there jelly babies and are very good......just on the grounds of research you understand.
