Is it just me or does anyone else think that new potatoes are quite tasteless this year? I have tried several different varieties, bagged from the local supermarket, and loose from our local greengrocer, but all taste pretty insipid....and all are expensive. Even Jersey Royals aren't what they used to be. Can anyone recommend a variety that they consider enjoyable....Thanks smile

We have had our first tastings of Cheshires and they where scrummy to say the least they are only on sale for a short while before they start to taste earthy so we will buy them whilst we can, last week we had some Jerseys loose from a big bag in local Greengrocers they where £3.00 a kilo so I just bought enough for the two of us but they where also delicious I don't like to buy the prepacked ones at Supermarkets I like to pick my own from stall holders at markets or greengrocers.Trouble with new pots my butter intake goes up dramatically as well as.

Liaise thanks for reminding me about the Cyprus new potatoes, I used to love them.

I picked up some 'cornish new potatoes' at M&S recently, they had that thin skin sort of flakes away before you cook them? I might not be describing that very well!

Anyway, they were utterly delicious mixed with a little salted butter while warm - keep an eye out for them!
