How do you make tea, do you use a bag, or loose, in a mug or cup and saucer.

I like tea, mostly good old Yorkshire with a splash of milk. I use loose tea in a warmed pot, served in a cup and saucer.

That said, at the right time I also like to mix my own herbs, or use a ready mix of special teas, I have a glass pot for those with an infuser, and I serve it in a glass cup.

Some people think I'm very strange. But my SIL called round yesterday, and I made a large pot of tea and we sat at the kitchen table with a plate of biscuits and drank the pot dry, whilst putting the world to rights, she said it was the best therapy ever !, hence my question, how do you like your tea

My friend and I share a teabag - not because we are tight but I like my tea weak so it just has a dance around my cup and DF likes builders tea so it sits in there and brews a while!!

If it's just for me it will be a teabag in a mug but I really like a good pot of tea that has had a bit of a brew. I'm a big fan of loose tea leaves as well and you can vary the type of tea you use. I like Darjeeling as a preference.

Ha ha Annie, tired acronyms to help me out, thought of something rather rude and then realised you must mean milk in first! grin

I prefer coffee, but tea is always bag - one per cup, but teapot out of we have visitors.

Milk in last for me and just a dash.

I do like camomile and honey and also peppermint if I am feeling a bit fragile. Always a good sense of home-nursing a la Benjamin Bunny!

Imperfect, I remember that ghastly Paul Burrell showing how to pour tea, and he was horrified by MIF's, seems the royals are not MIF's

A Yorkshire teabag in a mug first thing, then a pot of loose leaf in the afternoon. Either way, it has to be served in bone china !!

Proper, loose leaf tea - a mix of Co-op 99 & Indian Prince. 99 tea bags when camping.
When I did my Diploma in Family Therapy, I wrote an extended essay on sitting round the kitchen table, drinking tea.

Annie I saw that awful programme too! smile I wonder how many silly sods thinking people actually changed their habits to do it like the royals do?!

We used to live in residence at a theological college that had a 4 o'clock Tea tradition EVERY day of the year except Christmas day. It really was a lovely part of the day as students, spouses and children would gather in the common room for a cup and a natter. In our first year there was always cake too, but budget and waistline cuts meant that it changed to biscuits after that. However, the tradition of pausing at 4 became a bit ingrained and to this day, if I am at home , the kettle goes on at 3:45!

How do you put MIF if you make tea in a mug? I can see you can do it with a teapot and cups, but surely the boiling water needs to go straight onto the tea bag and MIF stops this.
I'm MIF with a teapot but MIL with a tea bag and mug.
I have just developed a taste for chai. I like Earl Grey as well. But I do like weak tea and when I'm out somewhere and they serve a pot of tea I have to remove the teabag before it gets too strong.

Quite easy Trisher, put in milk, put in tea bag , pour on water, take out tea bag put in honey.

I don't like tea (heresy!) but DH has reverted to loose leaf Assam tea in a small pot, MIF. I usually just have a herbal teabag to join him, though I bought a lemon verbena plant to use for tea, but usually forget all about it and use a bag.

Teapot. 1 Assam teabag per person. Boiling water. Stir. Leave to stand for 3 minutes.
Stir again and pour into mugs, MIF.

I love my cup of tea..
Milk in first but only a teeny splash of it and skimmed milk at that. (sorry I can't bring myself to type initials it makes me think of some young sprig wanting to do naughty things) if only!!
MUST be made using a teapot. I take my teapot on holiday.
In a nice cup and saucer is best but will use a mug ,preferably china.
Drank whilst piping hot.
Can't stand tea made in a cup with teabag it upsets my tummy especially if they squeeze teabag at side of cup. All that tannin is no good for your gut.
Can't stand it once gone cool.

Weak, black, Earl Grey for us. One bag in a tea pot, that gives us 2/3 cups each, depending on size. I have been known to buy a small tea pot from a charity shop when on holiday, as a tea bag in a cup, is just too strong.
To be contrary, there are times that I do like a cup of builders tea, milk in last. smile

Green tea, with lemon or mint. Very calming and refreshing. Clipper seem to be the best.

Ceylon loose leaf tea - no milk. I use a pot with a removable filter. I also use Redbush teabags in a mug.

Same as you, nannykay: good old Yorkshire Tea, loose leaves and made in a pot. Nowt like it 😉

I get teabags for MrBaggs cos he makes it in a mug.

I have to use filtered water because straight tap water leaves a scum on the top of the tea. Other that that - I like black tea weak with no milk or sugar. I love mint tea - made with fresh mint - as a particular pub round here makes it. My other favourite is one that describes itself as a lemony spring of organic aniseed, fennel and cardomom. (Pukka) There are occasions where only a particular tea will hit the spot.

I don't like Darjeeling or Earl Grey, and if there's no "ornery" tea (e.g. in a hotel at the breakfast buffet) I will drink Assam at a pinch.

I make mine in a very proletarian way - put milk (quite a lot) and a tea bag in a mug. It's best if the teabag has started to colour the milk before you top up with boiling water.

I have to do it myself, though. I prepared my mug with said ingredients this morning and put the kettle on, but I went off somewhere and DH filled the cup up. It tasted so awful, I couldn't drink the whole cup!

I prefer to make tea in a pot. However, DH has now decided he wants to drink decaf tea, and I drink ordinary so it's tea bags in mugs and milk in last. brew

Pouring boiling water onto a tea bag which is sitting in cols milk is just wrong!

I make tea in a pot using tea bags, take it black with no sugar.
Really prefer a china mug. A tea cup doesn't hold enough and I don't like the weight and bulk of anything other than china. Also I like the rim of the mug to flare outwards.

A colleague had a long harangue abpout putting in milk before water with teabag - maintained the milk blocks the holes in the teabag. Persuaded me at the time but no longer convinced! Tried teapot recently but got fed up with cleaning out the tea leaves sad
