Strange but good flavour combinations.

My friend mentioned black pepper and strawberries were a good combination.

Strawberries with a smigeon of finely ground black pepper.

Vanilla ice cream, whisky and black pepper! Delicious.

I have to say that I love smoked haddock and poached eggs but have always avoided eating them together, until we stayed in a hotel in Norfolk last year and I was offered the dish for breakfast. It was a revelation, and a combination I have eaten ever since.

Always do a fish pie in a cheesy sauce, and then top it off with a mixture of breadcrumbs, grated cheese and chopped parsley and pop it under the grill to crisp off.

Haha, I've just finished eating this! Well, at least, it wasn't poached haddock, but steamed smoked cod. Same difference though . One of my all time favourite dinners, along with gammon in onion sauce.

I saw Rick Stein making a chicken dish with chocolate sauce last night - apparently a Mexican speciality usually made with turkey.
However, I don't think I'm going to try it.

Menopaws, try a slice of cucumber on top of your marmite and cottage cheese. Stilton cheese and Christmas cake is delish!

Peanut butter and banana for me. And smoked mackerel with beetroot and creme fraiche.

Cheese sandwich dipped in hot chocolate. Don't know where it came from but I can remember having it as a child and loving it .

My favourite sandwich is Strawberry jam and Bovril yummy

I bake white fish in the oven (or grill it) with sliced bananas on top. Slice the bananas longways then it seems less weird! Yummy.

Peanut butter and any type of jam for me. Cream cheese and marmite on crumpets ... Not very adventurous, but yum!

Scones with cream cheese (like philly) and raspberry conserve. Yummy!

Cheddar cheese and fruitcake is lovely. Also a nice soft brie on a sandwich with sliced apple.

A sandwich making competition was won a few years ago by someone making gorgonzola and strawberry sandwiches. I tried it and it was lovely. I, too, used to mix bananas with cottage cheese[on Ryvita] in the early years of my 'neverendingdiet' as it was the only way I could stomach cottage cheese. I don't like it with pineapple, though.

When preparing for D of E award hikes, my fellow ranger guides and I were told that chocolate and apple sandwiches were a good idea. I agree. Even easier now with Nut3lla

Gosh, did any chef really say that fish and cheese did not go together? Throughout my long life fish and cheese have always gone together like bread and butter or eggs and bacon.

I also like the combination of fruit and savoury in meaty dishes. eg sausages baked with onion and apple.

A small cafe near here serves grilled bacon on hot buttered fruit tea cakes.
A friend tells me they are delicious. I haven't tried them myself.

Mmm on the subject of savoury and banana - I just remebered I used to enjoy a local combo of wholemeal roll with banana, cottage cheese and peanut butter - yum!

An American visitor once introduced me to peanut butter and jelly (jam) sandwiches. I then introduced him to marmalade, he liked it very much. I do enjoy marmalade and peanut butter.
I once waved off DD on a school trip to Stratford from Wales having asked the teacher if she could sit at the front in case she was travelsick. When I met the coach many hours later she'd been fine but the teacher told me that she thought someone who dipped salt and vinegar crisps in rhubarb yogurt deserved to be ill!
