There's only two of us so turkey is off the menu. I've made a nut loaf instead and we'll have all the usual veg and trimmings. I also bought frozen lobster from Aldi and thought it would be a change.
Don't want to be tied to the stove all day.
Are you having the traditional turkey tomorrow?

Havnt had turkey at all this season. Not once. Now its too late. Maybe next year. ?

I cooked turkey as usual but this time bought a fresh turkey
instead of a frozen one.

Taste wise it didn't seem any different but I did notice the skin was thicker when I lifted it to rub butter in. Could have something to do with the freezing process perhaps.

I'm going cold turkey too, as my sister left quite a lot. No idea yet what I will do with it!

Looking forward to making a sort of Chile sauce with cold turkey as featured on GN today, wouldn't have thought of that. Luckily have all the ingredients as several inches of snow have appeared overnight.

Turkey on Christmas day at our house. Cold ham, beef. Pear and Rockfort tart etc at DDs yesterday. I have still got masses of turkey and a whole untouched ham .so will have to get the recipe books out today. I can see a curry coming up and cold ham with bubble and squeak sometime today

I have never really liked turkey and since we've been alone at Christmas have had chicken which we like, however I succumbed this year and I still don't like turkey.
I will make a mild curry and the rest will go in soup.

Oh Yes only two of us but it wouldn't be Christmas without a nice free range turkey we don't have the full panoply just some lovely fresh veg to go with it and I enjoy making lots of other meals from it like curries, soups etc so it goes on a bit but we love it.

Duck. It's a recipe from the Aldi website from a few weeks back: duck in mulled wine sauce. Which reminds me - I'd better switch the oven on!

We have a four bird roast from our butcher. Pheasant, Duck and Turkey, but blowed if I can remember what the fourth one is.

We had it last year, and it was gorgeous. Did us for Christmas Day, then cold on Boxing Day, and froze some for later.

We will be three for Christmas dinner, and we are having a goose, as requested by DS. In the afternoon DD and the four GC will be coming. A buffet tea is almost ready to put on the table. Only salad to prepare and cream to whip for the pavlova.

Beef Wellington for us but cooked a turkey yesterday and son did ham today so we’ll have leftovers for rest of week.

Turkey crown and gammon for us

annsixty Sun 24-Dec-17 22:43:26

As a child we always had a capon but I thought that now they were banned by the EU.

Stuffed cockerel ‘cushion’ from Booths for DH, sis in law and me. Think it’s basically a boned breast and is described as having a rather gamier flavour than normal chicken. roastchicken

Cold ham, Turkey and salads last night - Christmas Eve. Today, Christmas Day, well have prawns and fish on the BBQ more salads and ham and a big Pavlova piled with fresh fruit for pud. Feel stuffed just thinking about it! Happy Christmas everyone.

H and I who are on our own usually have chicken with all the trimmings but I have bought a turkey crown this year and am cooking it via the method posted by shysal I hope she is taking full responsibility ?.

ginny Sun 24-Dec-17 21:20:40

Definitely turkey for 10 at DD3s. We all love it and wouldn’t have anything else.

joannapiano Sun 24-Dec-17 19:38:06

I have bought a turkey crown for 8 of us. Although I cook Christmas lunch for some of our large family, most years, I have little interest in cooking, and food in general, really. If it turns out OK, fine. Otherwise we'll have sausages. Starbird, I won't mention your rabbit pie to my much-loved big, black bunny.

starbird Sun 24-Dec-17 19:22:04

For Christmas day I am going to my sister and we are having rabbit pie! But today I invited a friend round and we had a succulent stuffed crown of turkey with all the trimmings, unfortunately we were so busy talking the pigs in blankets were a bit overdone, but all in all it wasn’t bad - I still feel stuffed 6 hours later.

Only me & Mr P, but still having turkey.

NotAGran55 chemically castrated cockerel, I think!

NotAGran55 Sun 24-Dec-17 19:04:21

Nut roast for me and my youngest veggie son . I've never eaten turkey because as a child we had a capon ( must Google to see what it is ! ) I haven't eaten meat for over 40 years . The rest of the gang will be having turkey and all the trimmings .

Chewbacca Sun 24-Dec-17 18:39:24

Turkey crown and a gammon in honey and orange here. Usual trimmings. Everything's ready to just bung in the oven in the morning.
