I was really disappointed when Force wheatflakes was discontinued and there’s nothing new that’s comparable.

Pollyperkins I remember Ice Magic - my DC loved it! But good news! I recently came across a product in Tesco called 'Crackin', made by Askeys. It's exactly the same, and I think it comes in two flavours - chocolate or caramel.

CariGN I too used to love Oat Krunchies, but haven't they just been renamed? It's called Oat Crisp nowadays. I buy it sometimes - I think it's slightly different, smaller size pieces maybe, but essentially the same thing.

No one I know remembers the chocolate bar
Coffee Crisp - it had coffee aero and wafer. I loved them. I really liked Heinz vegetable salad as well. There was a spell as a child when it might possibly have been the only vegetables I ate!

Inishowen I well remember those Crawfords plain chocolate digestives. Our corner shop sometimes sold small bagfuls of broken ones cheaply. They were so much better than McVities!

Aztec bars. Anyone else remember those?

Rice Cremola. Used to have it as a child. Bright yellow. Also, I dont like curry, but I liked the Vesta packet curry that used to be in the shops.

So many favourites mentioned here..! Willow500 the chocolate bar was called Trio - I used to love to try to lever the layers apart with my tongue without breaking them smile
Instant whip..! My regular real-time treat as a child - and Ice Magic, the chocolate that went hard when squeezed onto ice-cream... My MIL used to buy it for when the DGC went to tea at her house, it was their special treat from her... grin

Aztec bars, Oh yes Coconut with cherries if I remember rightly

As a child I used to love the square Lyons individual fruit pies in apple, blackcurrant or apricot. They were replaced by round ones which were never the same.

Not discontinued, but why do supermarkets sell most pork and bacon without the rind, which for me is the tastiest part. Thank goodness I have a local butcher!

Nice to have brought back memories of food in yesteryear! Now I’m wondering which sweets do you miss? I used to love hazelnut creams ..... I think I used to buy them from Maynards ...... little pink fondants with a hazelnut on top .... lush! You can’t even get them from those resurrected sweet sites.

I think Lyons did a fruit pie in pineapple , which was lovely. I had them for my school packed lunch with Sandwich spread sandwiches. perfect

Old Jamaica chocolate.

Didn't think this thread was of interest to me until this morning. Decided that porridge was good comfort food this morning and while it was cooking remembered have top of the milk on my porridge as a child. On a day like today that would be good.

I used to love those pineapple cream cakes. I think I would find them very sickly now. I also loved fish paste sandwiches. In fact I bought a jar of fish paste the other day and have just had fish paste on toast. Very nostalgic.

I don't know if it is discontinued but I haven't been able to find it - Royal (I think the brand is) lemon meringue pie filling. When I've tried to do it myself, the texture isn't right and the mixture is too sour.

And I think Instant Whip must have been discontinued too. I used to love it as a child. (I've just noticed someone else has mentioned it)

SueDoku I don't know whether you noticed my earlier post about Ice Magic? I recently discovered a very similar product made by Askeys, called 'Crackin'. I bought the chocolate one and I seem to remember there was also a caramel flavoured one too.

Diggingdoris, cornflour is what blancmange is and its easy to find. You just add a flavouring to the cornflour.

There used to be a teabread thing called a cookie, when I lived in Scotland as a child. They were sometimes stuffed with whipped cream and called cream cookies. Like brioche buns but a lot lighter in texture.

Alexa Thu 01-Mar-18 18:37:38

KatyK I remember those pineapple cream cakes . They were pineapple chunks and cream piled onto a short crust pastry weren't they?

I miss gypsy creams biscuits and barmouth biscuits.
I miss Creamola Foam.

Daddima Thu 01-Mar-18 18:48:11

alexa, we still get the pineapple cakes! In our local co-op, the shelves were plundered, but if you look at the secon shelf from the bottom, you’ll see some left!

Alexa Thu 01-Mar-18 18:54:52

Ha Daddima, you must have one of these new fangled phones that takes photos!

KatyK Fri 02-Mar-18 10:55:46

Yes they were Alexa that's them! I may have to go and track one down when the weather improves.

Kate51 Fri 02-Mar-18 14:10:48

My favourite biscuits were gypsy creams and royal Scot. Nothing else quite like them.

Alexa Sat 03-Mar-18 18:23:29

The sudden disappearance of gypsy creams haunts me when I'm searching the biscuit shelves and I wonder why? Why?
