Put joint and potatoes in the oven, go off and do the shopping, gardening or go to the pub.
I poured a glass of wine and sat and made some phone calls

I would have to have a separate roasting oven to do a proper roast. Too much mess - fat spitting all over.
What about roaster bags?

I have to agree with MOnica but that is because I have no other pressures and I love cooking!

It's a great idea for those who CBA or for those with too many other things to contend with.

Carving; scrubbing fat off pans........not just as easy in my book!

A real roast is just as easy, Put joint and potatoes in the oven, go off and do the shopping, gardening or go to the pub. Come back an hour or so later and serve with fresh veg.

Season and spray the chicken and veg with vegetable oil using a spray bottle.
I did that too.

I think Delia used to call it 'How to Cheat at Cooking'
However, all our recipes use fresh ingredients!

DH has hurt his back and I have a lot of pain from my disability so my 19 year old DD is making her own version on an easy roast.

3 chicken breasts with skin
3 Potatoes cut into chunks
3 carrots cut into finger

Season and spray the chicken and veg with vegetable oil using a spray bottle.
Put in oven tray and into oven at 200C for 45 (ish) minutes
Cook or microwave steam some peas and/or Broccoli/Cabbage/Romanesco
Serve with granvy made from gravy granules
Enjoy

Jalima that's what I did, with steamed broccoli.
Easy Peasy then just chuck roasting tin in dishwasher.
Sorted!

I've thrown in a chicken and some veg to roast and will steam some cabbage tonight.
Gravy hmm now that's the most difficult bit!

Sounds lovely,
I have done similar when either cba or pushed for time.
The key as you pointed out Luckygirl is using 'real chicken or Roast beef' not reconstituted.
I sometimes use steam vegetables.

I also had a very easy and delicious Sunday roast....
prepared and cooked by DH.
Now I have to blitz the Kitchen hmm

Place some frozen roast potatoes in the oven (or, in my case, Remoska). When they are half-cooked put some M&S sliced cooked chicken (or for OH sliced beef) in some foil and add to the oven. (This is the proper sliced cooked meat - not those weird reconstituted things). Put some veg though the microwave for a few minutes. Add some gravy and there you are!!! Tastes great!
