Potato Ricer ? The best gadget ever ??

But it’s not a masher is it? The potato ricer does make potatoes taste delicious!

My daughter has one and I was impressed with it. BUT - GS is adamant that his mother’s mash is not as good as grandad’s - and he uses a fork (and magic!) ?!

Ichave one bur think it makes Nash taste like something other than potatoes!

I don't mind the odd lump, really.
I find the texture of really smooth mash a bit offputting.

Have you been drinking kitty? ?

What's wrong with Tesco frozen mash? - it is delicious and n washing up!

I'm not keen on really smooth mash either.
I never peel potatoes so there's always skin in mine.
My fav dinner is salad with a nice pile of mash especially when the dressing seeps into it

I've got one somewhere, I think I've used it twice in about 3 years ….. it made the mash look pretty when I made a fish pie.

I gave one away - my late MIL gave me hers, and it was such a faff. The thing only holds a small amount of potato, and I find it took ages to do. (no wonder she gave it to me)

Yes, I have used one for years, from the days when I piped mashed potato to surround cauliflower cheese.

Warning! Don't use it instead of a sieve to puree blackberry and apple for jam. My new white kitchen looked like a crime scene as it shot out in all directions.

Have had one for 20 years or so!!! Gets used weekly, goes in dishwasher. Most regularly used gadget in my kitchen other than my thermomix.

Couldn't do without my ricer. Makes the best mash ever!

Bought one, tried to use it with arthritic hands & gave up as it hurt too much. Gave it to a charity shop! Wasted my money & back to Aunt Bessies!

I had a ricer, but TBH found it too much of a faff, esp. with the amount of mash I so often make. It went to the charity shop.
My absolutely-can't-do-without gadget is my cylinder grater. Brilliant for cheese - I use a lot of grated cheese and can't use ready-grated Cheddar - it has to be extra mature. Can't bear grating cheese on those box graters that also grate your fingers if you're not careful.
