Kitchen Appliances Addiction!

I don't scrape new spuds anymore, used to hate the job and now I cook them with the skins on.

Carillion - I have a Phillips Airfryer and have really only looked on their website. They have some nice recipes which I really must try, I haven't been very adventurous so far.

Carillion haven’t made scones, Mr.Gravy has made bread, marmalade and a really delicious fish stock from prawn and langostine shells.

It is so quick for soups, I used it for purées when GC were babies. Breadcrumbs in about 5 seconds.

Our model is approximately 8 years old it has been superseded by a “digital” model.

I don’t like gadgets, I too would like to get rid of my microwave, I never use it, but my husband thinks the fact that we may possibly need it at Christmas, makes it worth keeping!

All I have on my worktop is my kitchenaid mixer, because it’s pretty, I never use it!

GrannyGravy just looked at Thermomix and recipes, have you ever followed the scones recipe?

I wouldn't be without my old potato masher either. I wish I knew where my potato-scraper went though. It scraped new potatoes in no time when you turned a handle to rotate it.

I have a very small (tiny) kitchen area since we downsized 9 years ago.

Actually I’m very sad as my favourite kitchen tool is my potato masher. I bought it, ooh 20y ago from M&S and since I learnt a couple of years ago (how dim am I?) to rotate the pan slowly and keep the masher in the same place, I really enjoy mashing potatoes even more!

I need to get out more.
Well I will, once I’ve mashed this pan of potatoes as the topping for this evening’s dinner!

Too many to list, most in garage, microwave in laundry as I like clear worktops.

The only "gadget" out and used is a Thermomix.

Carillion I bought the sausage skins from a company called Weschenfelder though you can buy them from Lakeland - at a price! You can also buy them from 'Butcher's Sundries' on Amazon. Very easy to use and you can freeze them. I recommend a book called, not surprisingly, 'The Sausage Book' (also from àmazon) with loads of recipes and all the information you'll ever need!

I have a magimix with a little bowl which is used regularly for chopping onions, Kenwood chef for cakes, and I have the colander and sieve for it as it means I can sieve gooseberries and blackcurrants for fools. A hand held mixer for small amounts, a bread maker which is used two or three times a week, and a pressure cooker for soups and stocks. I use them all the time. I did have a soupmaker, but found it .ore fiddly than the pressure cooker and when it broke down I got my money back.

Miepl have you used the sausage maker...where do you get the sausage skins from?

Oh dear - this is a very a embarrassing confession but here goes (bearing in mind we had two homes so have duplicates of things)

2 slow cookers (the knob has come off one which I cooked in the stew but it still works with a pair of pliers)

A food processor
Hand food mixer (must be 30 years old)
Bread maker (consigned to garage)
The cheaper version of a Vitamix
Spiralizer
3 coffee machines
Electric sandwich toaster
Microwave sandwich toaster
Omelette maker
Soup maker
Steamer (again in the garage)
3 microwaves
3 kettles
Pressure cooker
Juicer
Halogen oven

In my defense a lot of these things are very old and other than the kettle and coffee maker nothing is out on the worktops which of course means most of them never get used!

And don't even get me started on TV's

I bought a Kenwood Chef a couple months ago having prefered hand mixing for the last 40 or so years, but I find my hands don't like a lot of wooden spoon mixing or kneading these days. Now wish I'd bought one years ago!
I have a GF grill, used it once and it now lives on top of the kitchen cupboard, will give it to my son when he moves into his own place - he's more likely to use it and he bought it for Christmas a few years back.
Slow cooker and Air Fryer are the two gadgets I use.

I have a Kenwood mixer (with pasta maker and sausage maker) an electric all-in-one pressure cooker/slow cooker/baker/rice cooker, a Magimix and a new garlic rocker that is great when I want to chop several heads of the stuff. I'd love a Ninja Foodie (you'll have to Google it) but I bought the Pressure King about 2 weeks before they came out in this country and can't really justify both! The stick blender tried to electrocute me last week, so that got binned. And yes, I use all of them all the time, in fact the PKP gets used almost daily!

I have a microwave oven that is usually only used to make sauces and melt butter. I also have a Kenwood Chef (wedding present) that hardly ever comes out of the cupboard as I prefer to mix by hand.
I have a George Foreman grill mainly used for toasties. Blender/smoothie maker, stick blender, both of which I use regularly.
I've never wanted a spiralizer or any other fancy chopping gadget.

EllanVannin, know what you mean about the juicer. When I lived in Southport there was a great shop in Marshside where they sold everything from meat, veg, craft items, lamps, lampshades...everything in fact and once I found and bought a stainless steel, upright, simple citrus juicer, can't describe it properly but it was simple and did the job. Sadly, when we moved to Scotland it was left behind. Wish I had it now because am going to have a go this afternoon at making microwave citrus marmalade.! X

Once upon a time I was a " gadget girl " with all kinds of weird and wonderful things from the Lakeland booklet.

One purchase was an all-in-one fruit juicer which separated the peel/pulp from fruit in a separate container and just left you with the juice. It was a beggar to clean and eventually left to one side.

I still have my 3 part steamer which is handy---with a timer where you put potatoes in the bottom, veg in the second layer ( later ) and usually fish/salmon in the top. A meal with not a pan used.

Just one or two gadgets now remain in my cutlery drawer.
Breadmaker etc went to my GD.

Teetime....^the oven cooks slow so I don't need a slow cooker^...I love that! Xx

Not a gadget person as my aim is to have a completely clear work top. I would ditch the microwave if DH didn't use it for his concrete (porridge) in the mornings. I have a liquidiser for soup and a stick whisk thing, a hand mixer (gave the Kenwood to daughter) and a kettle - gave spiraliser to daughter would rather use sharp knives. No coffee machine now either went back to a French press. The oven cooks slow so I dont need a slow cooker.

But I did treat myself to a mini chopper the other day which also blends and makes mayonnaise as I would contend the Magimix and Kenwood Chef are so big!
Not to mention the four different “gadgets” for making coffee........

I’m less gadgets and more knives and pans. However I do have a slow cooker,sandwich maker, food processor, juicer, mixer, raclette, foreman grill, Nespresso machine and blender??.
How dreadful to have so much,I never realised.
My dream gadget is a thermomix but at £1100 it is an unlikely purchase.

Can’t do that Carillion, but an ex neighbour of ours, used to have every gadget going under the sun, and her cupboards were bursting.
So if you needed something, she was the go to person. The only trouble was, she wasn’t a good cook !, just loved stuff?
