Pleased to hear the (spoilt) little darling didn’t go hungry.

I tried sliding a knife between the slices but they just broke up - the little darling ended with a sandwich made up of broken slices but seemed happy with it. I presented the opened packet to my friend as she left - no-way would I eat it!

Always individually wrapped but if not can’t you slide a knife between the slices it doesn’t seem that much to worry about

I think I would have given her a rain check

Oh dear - it's probably too late now, but could you soften them for a few seconds in the microwave and prise them apart with a spatula or butterknife?

Would have been easier to suggest you and your friend swapped so she had to do the ghastly white bread and processed cheese sarnies to suit fussy DGD.

It's easy to buy ready-sliced non-processed cheese in e.g. Marks, I think their slicves are interleaved with greaseproof paper sheets.

Can you not slide the blade of a knife between your slices?

Ah, this could be a mine field Oldwoman70. Before now we have bought cheese slices for cheeseburgers. They are individually wrapped, quite soggy and processed with a distinctive taste. Packs of sliced cheddar and presumably other varieties are available. To me these taste more like “normal” cheese. Wonder which you have and whether the little madam will like them. Do you have an in-date passport handy just in case?

I sometimes buy cheese slices, but I buy the type that is in individual wrappers inside the packet. I only buy then when we want to make cheese burgers though.

A friend and I meet once a week for a snack lunch - usually just soup or sandwiches. It is my turn today, she rang yesterday morning and said she was taking care of her DGD today and could she bring her - of course I said yes.

She then told me her DGD is going through a phase where she will only eat white bread sandwiches, made with ready sliced cheese. Not something I normally buy but having previously witnessed a melt-down by this little monster darling I decided to go with the flow. I am making up the sandwiches in readiness - how the hell do you separate the slices? No matter what I do these pesky slices of plastic cheese don't come apart!
