No
I keep them in a pottery chicken in my small larder.
No need to refrigerate eggs.

I prefer to keep them in the fridge , DD takes them out and then I put them back ?

rockgran Sun 08-Dec-19 17:23:47

I don't keep them in the fridge and they keep just fine.

I have a sweet little white wooden egg storage box-thing, they keep very well there. Although to be honest I never have eggs hanging about for long, we use a lot of them.

Yes in the fridge for me.

Not refrigerated here either. Our chickens keep us and half the village supplied .

kittylester Sun 08-Dec-19 17:32:33

No, mine are in a little wire basket that sits next to the dish of tomatoes which I also keep out of the fridge.

Calendargirl Sun 08-Dec-19 17:38:59

Yes, in the fridge. My parents reared chickens, hundreds of them. No eggs kept in fridges back then, but we are told nowadays they should be refrigerated. I bring them out before using them.

I do just because it is tidier to put them in the fridge.

MiniMoon Sun 08-Dec-19 17:44:05

It's a battle here. DH puts them in the fridge, I take them out.

Tomatoes lose flavour if you refrigerate them. You should keep them at room temperature.

That's another thing we are at odds about! ??

Just like dragonfly46. (I like limited clutter on the work surfaces.)

kittylester Sun 08-Dec-19 17:56:50

I think we are told NOT to keep them in the fridge!

cornergran Sun 08-Dec-19 17:59:55

In the fridge because there’s no other space

JackyB Sun 08-Dec-19 18:02:12

The explanation I read was that they can be kept for a while out of the fridge, but after a certain date(4 or 6 weeks from laying) they have to go in the fridge. Once in the fridge, the condensation will start to destroy the natural protective layer on the outside and from then on in they shouldn't stay out of the fridge for longer periods.

It made sense to me.

BlueSapphire Sun 08-Dec-19 18:06:15

In the fridge because I don't use a lot of eggs. Take them out for a while before using.

BlueBelle Sun 08-Dec-19 18:08:42

No I don’t put them in the fridge

bikergran Sun 08-Dec-19 18:10:15

When you buy eggs in a supermarket they are not kept in a fridge therefore I dont keep my eggs in the fridge.

Pantglas2 Sun 08-Dec-19 18:38:38

I use eggs within days of buying and never keep them in the fridge. That applies to north Wales and Spain.

BradfordLass72 Sun 08-Dec-19 18:39:21

In winter, mine are in a basket on a straw 'nest' on the work bench. Looks very 'farmhouse kitchen' grin

In summer, refrigerated definitely, it gets too hot here to do any other.

jusnoneed Sun 08-Dec-19 18:40:01

No not in the fridge. Always thought they shouldn't be chilled.

Many years ago my Nan kept a flock of chickens and sold trays of eggs to the Egg Marketing Board. They never went near a fridge.

Oopsminty Sun 08-Dec-19 18:42:30

Always kept them in the fridge

But I think they're not supposed to be

Treebee Sun 08-Dec-19 18:42:42

FlexibleFriend Sun 08-Dec-19 18:57:57
