What are you all having to eat tonight? I cook every evening and have been getting bored with the usual meals. Tonight, I've made a Chicken Jambalaya - it's a Hello Fresh recipe I had ages ago, but I bought all the ingredients and have adapted it a bit.

I've made a carrot cake for afters.... with cream grin

Chicken parcels, roast potatoes, broccoli cheese, carrots and peas.

Building up to "no roasts in December" grin until Christmas!

We have a pre-Christmas menu for the whole of advent, although we no longer have puddings. Then we start Christmas Eve and a full week of deliciousness until New Year’s Day. Then stagger into the new year moaning about our weight???

Roast pork, and my cracklings crackled, my dgds will be delighted?

Leftover chicken and air fried chips with a bit of green salad and some garlic mayonnaise ?

Very slobby as kitchen totally cleared before rip out tomorrow, so, Mr Tesco steak and onion lattice pie with his dauphinoise potatoes and a tin of peas ?

Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, hassleback potatoes, cauliflower cheese, greens and sprouts. We gave prawns which have to be eaten so may go old school prawn cocktail to start.

Cottage pie, roast parsnips and butternut squash, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and peas.

I love the thought of a whole week of deliciousness at Christmas Whitewavemark. Best thing about it.

Lasagne made with cabbage leaves rather than pasta and some garlic bread

We had pulled pork, potato, carrot and sweet potato with wilted rocket in garlic butter.
The pork had been done in the slow cooker last week and the joint made enough for four meals for the two of us so two more servings left in the freezer.
My granddaughter is going through a cooking phase so I took this photo earlier at her request.

Roast pork, apple sauce, Boulangere potatoes, heritage carrots mashed with whole grain mustard, oil and butter and gravy

phoenix Sun 08-Nov-20 17:39:06

Nothing green, suziewoozie? I like a variety of colours on the plate.

Eye appeal and all that.

suziewoozie Sun 08-Nov-20 17:44:54

Nothing green but of course the heritage carrots are very colourful - yellow, orange, purple.

Hollyhock1 Sun 08-Nov-20 17:51:08

Tonight we've had roast chicken, chips, frozen peas and gravy followed by strawberry ice cream. Simple but tasty!!

phoenix Sun 08-Nov-20 17:53:27

Suppose so, but once they're mashed...............surely they will just be a sort of ????? Colour? Khaki perhaps?

Tried the purple ones, not impressed.

suziewoozie Sun 08-Nov-20 17:59:10

I sort of crush them rather than mash for texture and leaving colour

phoenix Sun 08-Nov-20 18:07:59

But still no green, which I would have beautifully off set the carrots, although why anyone would have 3 types of carrots rather than perhaps 2 and another veg is beyond this simple person!

Oh well, off to make the gravy!

Callistemon Sun 08-Nov-20 18:08:29

This will be the first time we're having frozen runner beans from this year's crop.
Should be interesting

Callistemon Sun 08-Nov-20 18:09:32

I like the heritage carrots but we've just got the ordinary orange ones this evening.

Well silly me here was I thinking this was a straightforward thread about what we were eating today not a critique. ?

Callistemon Sun 08-Nov-20 18:21:32

I'm off to steam the veg.

phoenix Sun 08-Nov-20 19:17:51

Not a "critique" , suziewoozie, merely an observation.

Surely one is allowed that?

If you say so dear, if you say so. Just odd how highly selective you are with your critiques - but then maybe everyone else is perfect?

Callistemon Sun 08-Nov-20 19:28:20

You're allowed, phoenix!

Our orange carrots were very good although I did think of the Orange One when I ate them.

Of course she is.

Moroccan Chicken, pistachio and apricot pie - with wilted spinach, runner beans and peas. A bit of a faff, but absolutely delicious for a change.
