Do you have tea?
Dinner?¨
Supper?

What time do you eat whatever meal is your last meal?

loopyloo Tue 02-Mar-21 08:37:33

Between 6 nd 6.30 and we call it tea but my DD who lives with us gives the children their dinner around the same time. I am sort of bilingual.

Whenever

When the children were growing up, it was tea at 6pm for everyone. It was a hot meal, not snacks
After they left home, we ate about 8.
In the past couple of years, I want to eat earlier so between 6.30 and 7. I’m a northerner, so it’s Called tea. It’s always a cooked meal, although pre-Covid, if we’d had a decent cooked meal in a pub/restaurant/cafe we probably had salad, cheese, humours, olives etc and some nice bread. Or home made soup.
Lunch and tea. Except on Sunday when we have dinner, either about 3 or early evrning

We have a very late breakfast 10 /30, so don’t want/need lunch. Cake and a cuppa around 3, so dinner is usually 5.30. - 6. Usually have a small cereal before bed.

WishIwasyounger Tue 02-Mar-21 09:49:09

I have lunch around 1, and tea sometimes between 5 and 6, but sometimes between 6.30 and 7.
When I was married and we would have people round for a meal (remember those days?) we would just call it an evening meal, and have it around 7.30/8.00
When I was growing up, dinner was always mid-day, and the evening meal was tea.

About 6pm. Too tired after this to do the clearing up!

henetha Tue 02-Mar-21 10:06:53

I start cooking, depending on what it is, between 5.30 and 6pm
and eat between 6 and 6.30 ish. It's my main meal of the day, I have very little lunch.

Ailidh Tue 02-Mar-21 11:12:55

4:30 to 5. I like to get up very early, 04:30, so I go to bed by 9. Works for me and the dog!!

mumofmadboys Tue 02-Mar-21 11:23:59

6 pm or there about. Eat breakfast about 10 am. Dont eat after evening meal

Artaylar Tue 02-Mar-21 17:01:25

DH and I have completely different eating habits and taste in food, so we cook and eat seperately. Odd, I know, but it works for us.

DH eats just once a day, around 8pm - a hangover from working night shifts I think.

I'll have some cereal shortly after getting up, and then a main meal around 7pm.

EllanVannin Tue 02-Mar-21 17:03:55

I don't eat beyond 6pm, so anytime before then.

Grandma11 Tue 02-Mar-21 17:28:21

The Main meal of the day is usually eaten around 5pm,
Lunch is between 12 noon to 1pm,
Breakfast is between 8.30am to 10am and unless on holiday usually consists of Cereals, Toast or Yogurt with Fruit.
Supper is normally between 9.30pm and 10pm, when we have a hot drink and a light snack, sometimes a couple of Crackers and a slither of Cheese if we are really hungry.

I have a medical condition we’re need to eat smaller portions of food quite regularly rather than one large meal at a time which would make me feel ill. DH has a sweet tooth and would happily snack on sweets, cakes and biscuits all day, then blame me for my Cooking and large portion sizes when he can no longer get his trousers to fasten easily!

grannypiper Tue 02-Mar-21 18:10:28

14:00 most days, can be as late as 15:00

Smileless2012 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:13:57

It's usually about 18.30 but it wont be tonight because I've been having an 'I can't be bothered day' today and haven't started cooking yet as I'm still on GN!!!

Tangerine Tue 02-Mar-21 18:15:43

Between 5.30 and 6.30 pm. I don't eat anything at all after this time.

I refer to it as dinner.

grannyactivist Tue 02-Mar-21 18:18:48

In Devon we usually have dinner some time between six and seven o'clock. When I'm staying in Manchester it's whatever time tea is served by my sister. grin

grumppa Tue 02-Mar-21 18:19:35

Early dinner for you tonight then, kittylester? And yesterday.

Generally about 2000.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 02-Mar-21 20:11:59

5.30 dinner, unless it’s a Sunday then it’s lunch at 1 ish and no one bothers with Sunday tea.
But sometimes we have afternoon tea at 4 which totally throws out timings for dinner and we don’t know where we are, usually, hungry about 8 ish and nothing ready to eat?

kittylester Tue 02-Mar-21 21:36:07

Well, grumppa we had take away tonight but yes to yesterday.

Monday and Tuesday are usually early but it goes downhill after that. I shall know who to ask if we are stuck!! We photocopy it and see who can finish it fastest!

JackyB Wed 03-Mar-21 07:35:42

I'm an owl and don't really get active till about 7 pm. Then I start clearing up the kitchen and sometimes dinner isn't ready till gone 9. DH gets grumpy and I'm sure I'd sleep better if I ate earlier. Even when DGS is here during the week (we are homeschooling him while the schools are closed and have a completely different daily routine) I cant manage to have it ready before 7 pm.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 03-Mar-21 08:31:01

Earlier the older I get?. So at the moment it is still dinner at between 5 and 6. It used to be between 7-8 and has gradually moved back.m

Eventually I suppose it will be afternoon tea or if I get really ancient it will be lunch.

Mum at 100 ate her main meal at about 2pm and has just a piece of cake or similar at 6ish.

Lillie Wed 03-Mar-21 09:08:16

We have a countdown which works like clockwork.
The cats start miaowing at 5 pm, the dog starts barking about half an hour later, and we are at the end of the dinner line around 6pm.

Suki70 Wed 03-Mar-21 14:22:00

Dinner around 7pm. It used to be while listening to The Archers but we gave that up once the monologues started.

cornergran Wed 03-Mar-21 14:29:55

Often cook at lunch time which could be 12 or 2pm depending on the day. If a cooked meal in the evening it’s called tea and always by 6pm. Real change from working life when we rarely ate our main meal before 8pm.
