Does anyonene else enjoy a nibble once in bed for the night? I love a bit of chocolate. Green and Black's Almond tonight...is it just me. Teeth cleaning before settling to sleep of course

smile
You could do yourself a packed lunch to take to bed.
Don't miss out!

Miss adventure, we must be schoolmates, we used to have midnight feasts at school decades ago, I just never grew up, and still have them, well I did until a few weeks ago when I got as far as downstairs to go foraging for feasts and blacked out before I got to the kitchen. Same happened a couple of weeks later (turns out my blood pressure drops through the floor), & seeing as it's a well known secret in our house that I feast I can't get to my mystery treats anymore.

I hate eating in bed, never have done it not even as a child, hate the crumbs and bits of food, a really bad habit.

When I eat in bed I make sure there are no dropped crumbs or bits of food, just as I would at the table.

This had me burst out laughing very loudly, builders next door must think I'm a bit odd! Still smiling.

Can't eat in bed, I've never found breakfast in bed a treat but on the rare occasion it's happened I've gone along with it. Can't disappoint a lovley gesture.

Cuckooz Sat 17-Jul-21 11:56:48

No. Never eat in bed.

I don't do anything in bed bar sleep.

I love munching crisps in bed, or chocolate or digestive biscuits and cheese. With a drink of green tea with lemon.

My late mother read that a few squares of dark chocolate can help you sleep! I don’t know if there was any truth in it. She always kept some in her bedside drawer to eat in the night if necessary. I smiled when I found some in her drawer after she had died. It wouldn’t be any help to me as I have to eat the whole bar if I start!!!!!!

Porridge and proper coffee are made every day by DH who eats at the table but me in bed.
Since we were married whenever one or other can't sleep we get up and make coffee and a biscuit have a read and then try to sleep again.
I was never allowed to eat in bed as a child, as someone else said "The lady muck", syndrome .

I never eat or even have a cuppa in bed, just my glass of water to out in my bedside table. If I'm ill I have to get up to get something, but I'm ok lying along the sofa with something to eat, but not my bed.

Very rarely, I've only had breakfast brought to me in bed by my Mum on my wedding morning, and once by my husband after I'd had surgery for gall bladder removal and couldn't move for pain.
It's me who lugs up a tray of tea and toast for husband and son most mornings. I have mine perched on the end of the bed, not in it. I actually don't feel comfortable eating in bed.
Since lockdown I've had really disrupted sleep patterns: breakfast at 5 am in the garden a couple of days ago (gorgeous in the sun listening to the birdsong), and today, didn't wake up til 10.30 so now perched on the end of the bed as usual with the tea and toast!

Froglady Sat 17-Jul-21 11:40:52

I have toast or a sandwich.

Moggycuddler Sat 17-Jul-21 11:17:51

No. Only if I'm really feeling ill and in bed during the day, and my family bring me sandwiches or biscuits etc.

Witzend Sat 17-Jul-21 11:07:44

cornergran, I sometimes do the same!

Theoddbird Sat 17-Jul-21 11:03:05

Never....

icanhandthemback Sat 17-Jul-21 11:00:43

I only eat in bed when I want to ensure I get reflux...so not often! Breakfast in bed would be lovely but I am a messy eater so what I would gain in the joy would be lost in the resulting washing.
My mother eats her breakfast every morning whilst lying flat on her back. We watch as she spreads it everywhere and worry she'll choke but she steadfastly refuses to sit up.

hilz Sat 17-Jul-21 11:00:19

Just a cuppa for me. Never take food upstairs to eat. However if breakfast were brought to me of course I'd eat it.?

nanna8 Sat 17-Jul-21 10:59:57

I don’t eat in bed, mainly because the thought of crumbs in the bed is quite off putting. We used to have a cup of tea in bed but these days I prefer to get up. I don’t like any heat in the bedrooms so it is a lot warmer downstairs and besides we have to let pussy cat out.

Bijou Sat 17-Jul-21 10:48:36

Never eat in bed. When my husband was alive he used to bring me a cup of tea in the morning. Now just water and pain killers are on the bedside table.

lemongrove Sat 17-Jul-21 09:54:06

No, or only toast or soup when ill.
That’s eating....but I enjoy a large cup of tea brought to me every morning by DH who is always showered and dressed by
7 a.m.

Sara1954 Sat 17-Jul-21 09:36:55

Back in the day my in-laws had a teas made, it seemed to make a terrible racket, and take forever to do its stuff, you could have been up showered, had breakfast, and be out of the house while that thing chugged away.

I have had Teasmaids for years. The last one I bought a few years ago I don’t use. It has a red light when you set it which stays on all night and keeps me awake. I have tried covering it with all sorts but the light still seeps out. I have tried to take the teasmaid apart to remove the bulb but can’t get in despite my best efforts. I have given up.

V3ra Sat 17-Jul-21 08:46:24

FannyCornforth I also have a bedroom kettle.
I use mine to make a herbal tea, so no milk required, without having to go downstairs and upset the dog.
Perfect first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

FannyCornforth Sat 17-Jul-21 08:23:54

Oh, and you can still get teasmaids, I bought DH’s daughter one a few years back (at her request, I must add!)
It was made by Swan I think
