Does anyonene else enjoy a nibble once in bed for the night? I love a bit of chocolate. Green and Black's Almond tonight...is it just me. Teeth cleaning before settling to sleep of course

Hello Bertha
It’s me who has a bedroom kettle!
I suffer from chronic pain and I have many difficult nights, so it’s nice to make ovaltine and tea at night (and the occasional Pot Noodle - kettle cuisine!)
I have milk in a little thermos, and a biscuit tin too!

BigBertha1 Sat 17-Jul-21 06:51:03

I wondered if anyone still had a Teasmade...do they still make them? I was intrigued by ' the bedroom kettle?

MissAdventure Fri 16-Jul-21 23:12:05

Ugh!
I draw the line at pilchards.

Casdon Fri 16-Jul-21 23:10:18

cornishpasty pilchards from the tin in bed, I can’t think of much more disgusting than that. I bet the sheets were something to behold, poor you having to clean that up.

cornishpatsy Fri 16-Jul-21 17:24:25

Many years ago I was a cleaner. The lady I cleaned for used to eat pilchards or spaghetti out of the tin in bed.

I always take tea and biscuits to bed.

I don’t eat meals in bed, but I do eat snacks. The trouble with having what could be a relaxing bedtime snack is that you then have to get up to clean teeth, so not very relaxing after all.

timetogo2016 Fri 16-Jul-21 16:59:21

OOOH get you Gagajo.
Nope don`t eat in bed.

Redhead56 Fri 16-Jul-21 16:47:18

Not really I do have midnight munchies but downstairs I have two mugs of tea in bed morning time.
I love watching old films or Downton and the lady of the house gets a breakfast tray. I won't eat eggs unless prepared by me so mine would be an eggless breakfast. But oh what a life.

rubysong Fri 16-Jul-21 15:23:50

We are in a bungalow and the kitchen is right next to the bedroom so it is easy for me to have breakfast in bed. When we had an upstairs bedroom we had a Teasmade for tea in the morning but only had Sunday breakfast in bed.
I remember one General Election (when DH was away) DS1 (aged about 20) and I spent most of the night in our bed with the TV on, a pot of tea and lots of chocolate biscuits. I think that was the night Portillo went.

FlexibleFriend Fri 16-Jul-21 15:19:54

No I never eat in bed but do take a bottle of water up with me.

trisher Fri 16-Jul-21 15:16:33

I love breakfast in bed and one of the delights of staying in hotels is the evening drink (hopefully they have hot chocolate) and the morning cup of tea, both drunk in bed with the little packets of biscuits you get.

Lucca

No I have never eaten in bed even when ill, I have always thought dare I say it rather common.

Well you can say it but it isn’t.
Look at the aristocracy having their breakfast brought to them in bed.

I agree Lucca, the opposite of “common”. I think that’s why I can’t do it. Mother insisted you were up and at the table or you didn’t eat. I can just hear her. “Who do think you are? Lady Muck!”

Namsnanny Fri 16-Jul-21 14:15:18

Too afraid of indigestion and spillage to be worth the bother.
Got to carry it all upstairs, then down again.
I'd also invariably forget something, or drop the butter knife, with butter on it, straight on the hair and dust bobble on the stairs.
Am I over thinking it?grin

One of the greatest pleasures of retirement for me is to have my first coffee of the day in bed - I get up and let the dog out, feed him and then get myself and my son a coffee each to drink in our beds. Heaven, it feels like a little luxury every day! I don’t eat in bed though.

twiglet77 Fri 16-Jul-21 14:09:13

No, I nibble in the kitchen. Never eat in bed, never drink anything but water in bed. The dog has a water bowl in the bedroom as well as two downstairs, but I wouldn't give her biscuits in my bed either!

grannyactivist Fri 16-Jul-21 14:06:52

Yes. When I’m ill my husband brings me all sorts of foods to try to tempt me, but if I’m ill enough to stay in bed then I’m usually too ill to want to eat. Fruit (melon, grapes, strawberries) is usually his best bet, but if I’ve been sick then it’s dry toast. He knows I’m on the mend when I ask for a slice of toast with marmite. grin

JaneJudge Fri 16-Jul-21 13:49:13

I take my youngest a bacon sandwich in bed. The others say he is spoilt blush

I am grin at the burger and the son story!

MissAdventure Fri 16-Jul-21 13:45:57

grin

nadateturbe Fri 16-Jul-21 13:42:32

But never pot noodle. grin

nadateturbe Fri 16-Jul-21 13:41:02

I often eat breakfast lunch and dinner in bed not feeling well enough to get up. I would love to be sitting at the table.

Lucca Fri 16-Jul-21 13:25:06

A) it doesn’t make you common I agree
B). What an outdated word anyway

rubysong Fri 16-Jul-21 09:35:06

Since I retired I have always had breakfast in bed, (muesli or porridge and tea). On Sundays we have egg on toast. By the time I get up I have also watched the news on TV, done emails and Facebook and caught up with GN.
Sorry if that makes me 'common', I thought it made me like aristocratic ladies on country house weekends, when married ladies had a breakfast tray brought to them in bed.

glammanana Fri 16-Jul-21 08:55:05

I never eat or drink in bed,I only have white or cream bed linen and would be fearful of staining it,

MissAdventure Fri 16-Jul-21 08:54:54

A pot noodle!
That's beyond the pale, young lady. wink

FannyCornforth Fri 16-Jul-21 08:47:06

I regularly eat a Pot Noodle (preferably chicken and mushroom) in bed, made using my bedroom kettle

Pass the smelling salts to Billybob!
