Changing food dates as you get older

Is it just me or have other gransnetters found that their food tastes have altered as they’ve got older? I used to love smoked bacon but now I can’t stand the smell of it and dislike anything smoked. Same applies to chorizo and I used to like cucumber but I don’t anymore. I also used to like lots of different flavoured crisps but now I mostly prefer plain ones. What about you?

No longer eat red meat..

Portion size smaller.
This gradually decreased after DH retired.
We always ate large evening meal, after having been out all day.
DH worked 12 hour days and had usually eaten packed lunch by 11am.
So by late evening was starving!

Now we eat much smaller meals at an earlier time (nursery tea).
An evening meal may for example consist of a baked potato with tuna and salad, rather than a heavier meal of potatoes, meat and veg etc.

The earlier time helps with my 18 /6 hr fast.

I'm still waiting! I eat everything I did, in my usual portion sizes and am constantly hungry, and looking at the clock to see how long to go before meal time. My husband hasn't really changed his eating habits either although on reflection he may be eating slightly less of the good veg, which is a shame.

Like amalegra I used to eat typical English food when I was younger e.g. pies, fish and chips, etc.

I rarely eat food like this nowadays and prefer rice and pasta based dishes.

I cook from scratch and never had a sweet tooth. I do like good food though.

Based on what I eat I should be a lot slimmer than I am envy I think our portion sizes are too big. Hopefully, as I get older my appetite will decrease as other have said previously

Chocolate. Used to love it. Indifferent to it now.

Gosh, I eat everything and probably too much of it! Don’t snack much though so all eaten at mealtimes when I’m hungry. Still think eating good food is one of life’s greatest pleasures - not the only one of course!

My tastes have changed and portion sizes too,an example being i have one sausage, one egg and five chips,i should not be a size 12.
And that`s been since going through the menopause.

My tastes have changed a lot as I've got older, I used to dislike smoked bacon, now I prefer it to unsmoked. I never ate ginger or ginger biscuits /chocolates now I love them. I used to love a bar of cadbury milk chocolate but now it seems to give me a headache so only eat wee bits to satisfy a craving then leave it alone.
I also get cravings for my favourite childhood foods and so now and again I'll indulge and have something like fish fingers with spaghetti hoops & either crinkle cut chips or potato waffles, followed by strawberry jelly and vanilla ice cream or jam tart and custard. Daft as it sounds it still gives me that happy feeling that I used to get as a wee girl when this was on the menu for Friday tea so why not!

I eat the same huge amounts as always and I get very hungry about three to four hourly. I don't eat meat, eggs, dairy or fish, just loads of vegan food and lots of desserts (still have a sweet tooth). I haven't noticed any changes - yet.

I used to enjoy a bacon sarnie, but not these days.
I tried changing from smoked to unsmoked, but still didn't enjoy it. sad
