I've just made a loaf in my slow cooker. smile

It was only a packet mix, but I'm rather pleased with myself! (Mind you, I've not tasted it yet!)

Are your affairs in order?

Wow that sounds great !
How long and what setting did you use ?

I’ve got a bread making machine which spent 10 years hiding in the cupboard but emerged during our lockdowns. Cannot beat homemade bread and the lovely smell, can you ? Have to fess up that it has gone back to its accustomed place though !

I didn't know you could make bread in a low cooker MissA so if you give us some info. I'll have a go.

Moneywise?

Ok.
Set slow cooker to high.
Open packet.
Mix in 350mls water and knead.
Put dough in the slow cooker.
The end. (They did say to use parchment paper, but I don't have any)

It took around 2 hours.

Yummy!

MissAdventure Thu 01-Sept-22 11:25:56

It was, actually.
I might have to have a slice two slices more.

It looks delicious, would it toast in a toaster?
Are we allowed to know what mix it is?
I’d have never thought a slow cooker could do that.

MissAdventure Thu 01-Sept-22 11:40:19

It's an Asda own brand mix for brown seedy bread.

I think if I had taken more care with the dough it would be ok to toast, but I was very slapdash so it's got bits of odd dough stuck on it.

toscalily Thu 01-Sept-22 11:46:22

Well obviously you were going for the rustic look.

MissAdventure Thu 01-Sept-22 11:51:07

grin
Of course!

If it was in an expensive little bistro people would love it.

MissAdventure Fri 02-Sept-22 11:05:18

I've toasted the bread today and can confirm it is very nice!

Grannynannywanny Fri 02-Sept-22 11:10:01

My mouth is watering looking at those photos MissA !

MissAdventure Fri 02-Sept-22 11:17:41

Well, I'm not saying it is money saving or eco friendly, particularly, but it seems to have been cheap and easy, and my slow cooker is the only gadget I've got.
It really is nice, though!

I have a cheese and onion bread mix lurking in my cupboard, too, so that's next.

timetogo2016 Fri 02-Sept-22 11:24:20

Looks great MissA.
I may give that a try,thanks.

MissAdventure Fri 02-Sept-22 11:25:00

The mixed grain and seed mix is 85p, and it is packed full of seeds and grain.

MissAdventure Fri 02-Sept-22 11:26:26

I still have well over half the loaf left, too and I've eaten loads!

Beautful Fri 02-Sept-22 15:49:47
