We have just had a small plateful each of party food bits and pieces for tea!!
Yummy!! Neither of us wanted too much to eat so spring rolls, tikka bites, spicy chicken pieces, mozzarella bites and onion bhajis have been duly sampled and enjoyed.
Lots more to try over Xmas and New Year!!

Anyone else tried any Xmas bits yet?

The ACs and GCs have sampled the sweet bowl which has been refilled twice!! But I'm not a chocoholic so have been enjoying the odd Werthers and Fruit chews - when they are gone - they are gone!! Whether the big man has been or not!!

Must admit to doing a premature sampling of the Christmas cake and have astounded myself by starting to eat some of the chocolates put away for Christmas, I am not a chocoholic. I am blaming all the freezing cold weather we have been having and the need for fuel. I rather like the thought of your tea as it is my kind of food.

Marzipan fruits. Got a gorgeous box from Fortnum and Mason, no less

They're all gone now.

Very easy to do - as we buy a good and varied selection of party bits from various shops to go in the freezer in case people drop by over Xmas.
As you only use a couple from each bag or box - they last quite a while - so we can enjoy well into January if there's any left!!

I’ve just opened a box of Waitrose Dark chocolate gingers to try yum. I am just going to try another. Won’t be any left at Christmas. X

Oh, so jealous - I love marzipan fruits! They'd have been swiftly demolished here too!

I am trying to resist a box of rose and lemon Turkish delight which is sitting on a side table. I keep staring at it and it stares right back 😛

kittylester Sat 17-Dec-22 20:03:57

I'll have it, tilly, save you staring at it.

We worked our way through sampling various Christmas puddings, before settling on the M&S 12 month matured one for 25 December. We shared a single portion one each time!

I was at a pre Christmas event this afternoon and designated myself mulled wine taster. Can't remember the outcome now grin

We've actually already had our family Christmas get-together here last weekend, and I sent my children home with most of the leftovers!
I did keep some cake though, very nice for breakfast with a cup of coffee 🐷
And these cute chocolates arrived from my brother this morning 😋

We confess to some sampling but will probably start that more seriously today. I have a horrible chest cold and our guests are going home this morning so it's treats time for us. Smoked salmon bagels for lunch to start with.

It's very selfless of you to test these products for us....thank you so much!

V3ra they look gorgeous. I would be skinny if chocolate had never been invented.

AussieGran59 you'd like this then! We're doing it on New Year's Eve while we're away:

"ABOUT THE EXCURSION
Sweet-tooth? Hotel Chocolat has you covered with their coveted Bean to Bar Experience. This is a choc-tastic chance to see the process of turning cacao’s chunky pods and goopy beans into the silky-smooth bars of chocolate we all know and love. But this one has a twist, as you’ll be rolling your sleeves up and becoming the chocolatier. You’ll be clanging the pots and pans as you de-shell the beans, grind them and formulate your very own chocolate bar. After channeling your inner Wonka, you’ll head for lunch amongst the decadent views of St Lucia’s emerald-green smothered mountains. But this isn’t just any lunch as each dish will be inspired by cacao cuisine designed to tickle your tastebuds in whole new ways - think cacao-infused brioche burgers, barbeque wings and white chocolate mash. You’ll never think about chocolate in the same way again."

I'm rather excited about it!! 😋😋😋

I have taken only 2 days to work my way through a Co-op White Forest Meringue dessert which serves 6. It passed the test so I shall buy another for Christmas Day. tchblush

That sounds lush - I'll eat white chocolate quite happily but don't like the brown variety. Must do a detour to our nearest Coop!!

I've opened a box of mince pies.

Since childhood I was absolutely convinced they were the most disgusting thing ever invented. Then someone handed me one and I missed the opportunity for a polite "no thank you" and found myself in a position to either, hold on to a mince pie for the next 45 minutes, or eat the thing.

I really liked it.

I may have picked out a raisin and discreetly folded it into the case.. which I held onto for 45 minutes

Just broken out the Baileys and Lindt chocolates to celebrate the start of Christmas (for us). Sitting here in (electric) candlelight waiting for the lights to start twinkling outside the window. The only prep left to do now is to clear all my sewing things out of the dining room so we can eat Christmas dinner in there, and wave goodbye to our semi-permanent house guests who are 'Christmassing' somewhere else. Our house will be our own again for the first time in about a year.

Alioop Sun 18-Dec-22 16:42:10

I sat today watching Miracle on 34th Street, A Wonderful Life and Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special which I do the Sunday before Christmas every year. I've munched my way through a full family bag of popcorn, raspberry ruffles and Pringles all by myself. I am now going to have my dinner as it's defrosted so I can't waste it.

HousePlantQueen Sun 18-Dec-22 17:20:09

Oreo do you actually eat dates? Every Christmas of my childhood a box of Eat Me dates with exotic packaging of camels and palm trees would be put on the coffee table. To my knowledge, nobody ever ate them! I am seriously considering cracking open some chocolates tonight; can replace them tomorrow when I pop out to replace the crisps that mysteriously disappeared last night. I am available to help out anyone who needs Turkish delight testing.

AreWeThereYet Sun 18-Dec-22 17:54:47

Ooooooh. I could eat some Turkish Delight.
