Reducing Tea / Coffe - help please

The other day I realised that a lot of my shopping is drinks. Coffee instant and ground, diet cola and tonic water. My plan is to replace this with water and save a fortune.
In the new year.....

Slices of root ginger and lemon, steep for 5 minutes in boiling water - very refreshing. Jasmine tea made with loose leaf tea from the Chinese supermarket is my go to morning drink.

Decaffeinated teas vary in taste. I use Twinnings decaffeinated tea. Typhoo decaf is also good.
Whilst I like regular Yorkshire tea their decaf version is not to my taste.
It's a question of trial and error to find one to your taste.
Decaffeinated tea can be a lot more expensive but stock up when it's on offer for a decent price.

You don't say why? Is it dehydration? Or? I was dehydrated from too much coffee, wine, cola. Crept up on me and suddenly I realised why I was feeling 'rubbish'. Now coffee at breakfast and china tea at lunch. Sainsburys berry tea morning, afternoon and mid evening. Not as nice as coffee but I do feel better.

Green tea has a fair amount of caffeine I believe. Camomile is nice

I always have decaf tea and coffee, it took a week or so to stop tasting odd, if I have ordinary tea or coffee now, that tastes odd to me.

I used to be very caffeine dependent and if I didn't get a coffee by about 10:00 I'd have a blinding headache all day. I cut down gradually from 4 cups a day to 1 or 2 fairly painlessly. Then when pregnant I went off coffee altogether so stopped drinking it for the first few months, enduring a 3 day withdrawal headache.
When I started enjoying it again I overdid it a bit and had a huge reaction suffering from rosacea! Since then I restrict myself to a maximum of 2 cups a day. Even a cup of instant can give me a warm glow and I mostly drink the real stuff as an Americano.
I'm not a tea drinker though I like some fruit teas if I'm in the mood. I drink diluted fruit juice in the mornings as I'm type 2 diabetic but can't swallow my medication with plain water. I mostly just drink water. At this time of year I tend not to drink enough of it though so need to avoid getting dehydrated as I don't feel thirsty when it is colder!
I no longer crave flavoured drinks most of the time. I've just got used to plain water. And it's the healthiest option!

I drink Ringtons decaf tea and coffee and they are the best I have tried. Their decaf process is different to others and you can tell. I have an intollerance to caffeine so it’s not by choice. I have tried Al the herbal and fruit teas but they reckon too much can damage the enamel on teeth so gave them up. Some green tea has caffeine in.

I was advised by urology doctor that even decaffeinated teas can cause problems for those of us with bladder problems. On his advice I switched to redbush/roibos teas, it's quite easy to find in most supermarkets and you can buy vanilla and earl grey in addition to the plain one. I love it, and it has the benefit of being really nice with a splash of milk, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on my normal cuppa. I am converted.

I only drink coffee, dislike tea. Having tried a few different decaff coffees , (I thought Taylors was horrible so weak not worth having) I have found Tescos finest Decaffinated with a blue label and gives it as strength 4. was the best flavoured for a decaffinated. I go in more for the equivalent of the japanese tea ceremony. So my treat is my morning fresh coffee to be enjoyed and savoured for flavour and the lovely smell, then use the decaffinated for the rest of the day. Dont drink any past 7pm except for the rare occasion I am out for dinner somewhere. I look forward to my coffee and have water of fruit juice in between the coffees.Hope this is helpful

Do you have a coffee maker madeleine45, as I’ve never had a problem with the Taylor’s decaf being weak using mine? (I like strong coffee, and Taylor’s is a 4). I’ve tried all the supermarket ones, the only one I like apart from the Taylor’s is the Waitrose Colombian, but it’s not always available in my local store. I do think it’s a very personal taste thing though, as I’m sure tea is too!

I would say be wary of exchanging one not-so-good habit for another: many fruit teas are acidic and pretty harmful to your teeth, as are fruit juices which will also play havoc with you blood sugars. Maybe a better approach would be to be mindful and reduce the number of cups of tea and coffee you drink with enjoyment per day and drink a glass of plain water in between times. Sometimes we put the kettle on just out of habit.

Decaf tea and coffee give me indigestion. Liquorice and chamomile teas give me a migraine. Not very helpful but just thought I’d mention it.

I replaced my many cups of tea with Red bush and feel it’s better for my bladder too

The first time I drank red bush I thought it tasted like TCP but it has grown on me!

I mix my coffee - half caffeinated and half de-caff. Have you tried Bovril? It makes a nice savoury alternative drink mixed with hot water. I guess Vegemite could be similar if you are vegetarian or vegan.

I drink Peppermint tea. Just that in the mornings, and water for the rest of the day.
This came about because I'm Diabetic and also wanted to lose weight. I gave up milk and tried being Vegan. I did lose weight, mostly because I didn't like the food I was cooking/eating. I had to give up the Vegan way of eating as I was so unhappy, and desperate to eat all the things I really missed.
However, I've stuck with Peppermint tea for five years now, and I'm absolutely fine with it!

Only drink strong black coffee from a Nespresso machine but try to drink boiled hot water or fennel tea after 12
Ordinary tea? One tea bag would last me a week! Other herbal, can only taste the bag!

Rooibos has been the road to Damascus for me, with a splash of soya milk. High in antioxidants, no caffeine.

Hi, I drank black coffee with lemon. because i want to reduse my calories, tast is so amazing, my daily routain take one cup black coffee with lemon.

Coffee gives me palpitations so I never drink more than one cup a day, and always decaffeinated. I like those little sachets of cappuccino or latte.
And I only have 3 cups of tea per day, for the same reason.
So my top up drink is always hot chocolate,- usually a low sugar one if I can find it. Hot chocolate is so soothing.

I drink decaffeinated coffee and tea, and find that fruit teas taste better with a little bit of sugar in.
