What's for dinner today?

Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, stuffing and 5 vegetables.

We had Dover sole fillets in a lemon and pepper crumb, with tempura prawns. All home prepared. Served with creamed potatoes carrots and peas

Veggie chilli and baked sweet potato, afters was a fruit salad.

Sausages and mash 😋, real comfort food. It’s horrible out, cold, snow 5 inches deep and starting to sleet 🙄

Veggie chilli and rice

A toasted wholemeal muffin topped with avocado, a poached egg and crispy bacon for me tonight.

Cottage pie. I made a large one yesterday so I’m afraid it is day2 today. Always seems nicer on the 2nd day.

Letting the side down here - gammon, egg and proper chips with baked beans for dh. I might have 2 eggs!

Smoked haddock fish cake, new potatoes and salad. Quick and easy but curiously the nicest thing I’ve eaten all week. Tomorrow beef in Guinness in the slow cooker. By the time I’ve lived with it all day, I’ll be meh.

Venison chilli with red kidney beans.

Lamb leg steaks, dauphinoise potatoes, peas and carrots. Any left over dauphinoise freezes beautifully.

A rather meagre two fried eggs and two crispbreads.

Oven baked mushroom risotto served with plain yoghurt. Meat free Tuesday.

We had bobotie plus some zingy beetroot, including leave – cooked to a zingy red cabbage recipe – I found lurking in the freezer.

The fish dish we should have had yesterday.

Pasta caprese (sp?) - dead easy and lovely

Mexican chicken tray bake, with lime yogurt. A Gousto recipe. (I used to have Gousto ages ago and kept the recipe cards)

My so gave me some instruction on marinades and today I launched out on my own and invented a very peppery one in which cooked baby sweetcorns are resting.

Ooh, I fancy Macaroni cheese now!

We had bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon. We both had salad and potato salad with it. DH had a few chips, I didn't. 😇

In keeping with meat free Mondays, macaroni cheese with leeks, or mac and cheese as the younger generation might say, I wondered what the hell that was when I first heard it described in such a way, thought at first McDonalds had been putting their slant on a good old fashioned dish

Thank you WWM2. Never used stem ginger in sauce - will give it a try.

It is good chopped up (say 1 ball) with melon and drizzled with a bit if the syrup.

If I ever find the recipe I’ll post it again or PM it to you.

I reckon it may be a good housekeeping recipe from one of their magazines which I pass on to DD.
