Friday the 11th of August.

Lunch Out .. Multi Michelin Basque Chef Martin Berasategui opened 2 new restaurants in The Madrid Capital. Both affordable for a special friend celebrating their birthday.

I had lentils, red peppers, tomatoes shallots and spinach. Served with a pitta bread and half an advoccado.

We had home made butternut squash soup with some lovely toasted seedy bread and lashings of butter.

Beef and vegetable stew from the freezer with mashed potato. It was very tasty.

What a disappointment, I hate that, getting ready, getting there and a disappointing experience.

Our meal was a disaster, we walked up to the local refurbished steak house, decor was good, staff were sort of attentive, food was just as awful as before.

We shall not be returning.

Slow cooker gammon, roast potatoes, baby carrots and tenderstem with onion sauce.
There were strawberries and grapes for after but I didn't have any. I did however have two glasses of a lovely Shiraz

Chilli from the freezer, brown rice and sour cream.

Staying with DD in Lancashire went the traditional butcher's shop for their sausages. I served them with fresh steamed vegetables and rich gravy.

Off to visit my DM in hospital this evening so a quick meal tonight for me. M&S lasagne with a green salad followed by fresh raspberries & Greek yoghurt.

08 / 08. Tuesday.

Lunch: We both worked today so a quick Risotto .. and a simple salad with assorted field greens, cherry tomatoes and a lovely lite vinaigrette. A glass of Rosé from Navarra, 100% Garnacha Grapes.

Quesadillas, salad, avocado aquafabba, salsa, fried tortilla chips, fruit.

A quick stop enroute home.

From freezer, cooked last week, when sister was with me, she loved it, Greek orzo with feta and spinach. Frozen well and still tasted delicious.

Chicken with stuffing, mashed potato and green beans.

I'm assembling a quesadilla using odds and sods from fridge & freezer. The tortilla is frozen as is the cheese, another tortilla will go on the top.

Homemade chicken passanda with lentil dal, rice, chutneys and poppadoms.

I made the garam masala from scratch earlier so the whole house smells fragrant.

Friends are joining us.

Homemade bolognese sauce on fresh tagliatelle with pecorino grated on top.

Sweet potato, peanut and spinach curry

We’re having the Mary Berry sausage supper tonight. Fairly easy to put together and one tray does the job, so little washing up.

WonTon soup (made with quinoa not meat), salad, bread, fruit. Chocolates.

Hake with new potatoes, beans from the garden and perhaps broccoli.

Meatballs and pasta with a lovely roast red pepper sauce.

Beef bourguignon for me with cheesy garlic mash I made enough for two meals. My husband has made his chicken soup that will keep him happy a few days too.
