Could yeast be described as an animal product?

Yeast is a living, single-cell organism. As the yeast grows, it converts its food (in the form of sugar or starch) into alcohol and carbon dioxide through the process of fermentation.

I have often wondered whether this is a product vegans should be eating.

Maybe they are prepared near meat products and might be contaminated from chopping boards or something. Like the chocolates ‘May contain traces of nuts’.

Norah

Maybe glucose and palm fat? Many people don't eat.

OXO list MSG, palm fat, and glucose, items many won't touch.

Miso seems to avoid such ingredients.

But none of those things are animal products

Marigold Bouillon powder every time.
I tried the Knorr “blobs” and disliked the taste anyway.

They.

Ingredients

Water, glucose syrup, salt, palm fat, herbs (parsley, thyme, bay leaf) (7%), sugar, yeast extract, leek, onions, potassium chloride, spices (nutmeg, CELERY seeds, parsley roots), gelling agents (xanthan gum, locust bean gum), flavourings

Yes, must be the flavourings. Thay don't make any claims about suitability for vegetarians.

It is Produce of Italy, so maybe that is relevant.

Wgich of the ingredients is unsuitable for vegetarians, Wol?

Not that I buy Knorr stock cubes. Just curious.

Just in case anyone else is interested...

Although the ingredients seemed vegetarian to me, the product description didn't specify suitable for vegetarians. I asked via their site, and have had a quick and clear response which I appreciate 😊
