Greg’s every time, Pret are seriously over priced, so are Costa and Starbucks.

Gregg's used to be a bakers and sell fresh bread but we haven't been in one for years as it seems to be a takeaway of fast food now.

No Prêt à Manger here, the only one I've been in was at Heathrow Airport.

Although there is some crossover in what these outlets provide, I don't think that they are that comparable. In my experience, Prets are the more expensive of the two, seem to have more healthy choices in terms of salads and fruits, and usually have sitting in areas, which don't seem that common in Greggs. Also, Greggs seem to place more emphasis on bakery products as per pies, pasties, sausage rolls etc. I try to avoid both!

Live in south. I don’t use any, in fact never been in either, but AC both buy from Pret if necessary.

Greggs love it! Geordie girl though!

Pret has a huge delicious selection of filled baguettes and sandwiches as well as fresh baked pastries etc. It's not all salads. Just as well I'm rarely near one.

No problem here. There are lots of Greggs but no Pret A Manger’s.

As I am coeliac Pret is far better for me I love their salads and hot soups. We were going to get one in Hull but they pulled out I was very disappointed. The rest of my family love Greggs sausage rolls and steak bakes.

Never been in a Pret A Manger it looks expensive
I eat Greggs vegi pasties which are nice I get from the supermarket but never eaten in a Greggs either
Neither have I been in a Costa and only once in a Starbucks over inflated prices I d rather go to an independent cafe or coffee shop

As far as I am aware they provide a different service with some take away style cross over. Pret mostly sell salads, wraps and hot drinks aimed specifically at the breakfast/ lunch/coffee crowd, to eat in or take away, whilst Greggs are a bakers that also make sandwiches, hot drinks and baked goods for take away breaks and lunches. Do Greggs in the north have seating to eat in perhaps ( our local ones do not). We have both in our local town and only Pret has seating. I occasionally buy bread/ rolls in tiny Greggs but would go to Pret to sit down with a warm drink on a chilly day.

Pret also sell salads and fruit. It’s not all sandwiches and sausage rolls. Handy when I worked in London if I hadn’t time to make my own lunch. No idea about Greggs, never been in one.

Pret is more of a treat that Greggs. That being said, I don't like anything from Greggs since they changed their doughnuts sad

Definitely about personal taste - but I would imagine for many people, also cost. Greggs' prices are a lot cheaper than Pret. I like local independent bakers too - but my grandson does love a Greggs sausage roll, so I do pop in there occasionally to get him one.

A recent survey suggests a North south divide with Northerners preferring Greggs and Southerners Pret a Manger. Do you have a preference? I don't use either as my bread and pastries come from my local Bakers. Not sure it is as simple as North and South but more about personal taste.
