I buy the coffee sachets so I dont have this problem. I only have coffee with breakfast as I am not a big tea and coffee drinker. Quite happy to drink tea without milk. Its a good way to get rid of unexpected visitors. Tell them they can only have black tea of coffee!

I think all our refrigerators have been struggling in this super hot weather we’ve had, especially if the fridge like mine is getting on😐 milk kept in the door is being exposed every time the door is opened too.
Still there are few disappointments to match a blobby first cuppa of the day.

I had that problem too. I now buy either own brand filtered or Cravendale. As they all last longer.

I found Grahams organic full cream milk almost always went off before the sell by date. Brought directly home and into the fridge. No other milk did this.

I stopped buying cows milk a few weeks ago for global warming reasons and am now using oat milk. It took a couple of weeks to get used to it and I don't miss cows milk at all.

You are not alone, I use very little milk, but still buy 4pts at the time. It is like yours refrigerated straight away never left out, just used and put back, yet 9 times out of 10 it goes off before sell by date. My partners does not. Indeed why I have asked the same question week after week. My fridge reads correct rather low temperature the same as my partners the only difference is that he uses his milk much quicker than I do. I use my clotted milk for rice puddings for which it is just fine.

I thin that it is important not to store the milk in the fridge door as this warms up when it is open and then takes time to cool down again. We pour our milk into a small jug so that the plastic container is opened as few times as possible.

Our local Sainsburys had almost no milk for several days last week so perhaps the hot weather had caused issues with milk transport or dairies?

Some time ago there were complaints about chilled foods such as milk being left outside the shops for long periods of time, this would cause a lot of problems. I regularly buy two pint full fat milk (for my coffee) from Sainsburys and usually throw away half of that because it's gone off. I have seen the local milkman deliver at one am, goodness knows what the quality is like after being outside for hours!

That's why we stopped having deliveries as they came at 1 or 2am and it sat on the doorstep on warm nights.

We've had some milk go off, not often and not just Tesco but most often it's fine even just a day or two over the use by date.

I'm disabled with no appetite so drink a lot of milk, usually more than 2 pints a day. We buy a 4 pint bottle but it's soo heavy to lift.

For years. I did use to buy the 6 pints but for some reason they have stopped doing them.
I can honestly say I have never had a problem with it at all.

I buy bottled Delamere sterilised whole milk and cartons of Asda soya milk. One container of each lasts about four days when opened.

I have been told by two people who work in different supermarkets. Milk and other perishable goods are often left on crates waiting to be loaded into the supermarket often for a long time.

It's no wonder the products go off no matter what the weather is like.

So the short lived milk is not just me. I have had several 4 pint containers from a local convenience store go off recently, and one from a Tesco local. If the sour smell is reasonable, drain off the whey through muslin and produce cottage cheese. Add a little salt. I have upped the cold in my fridge freezer, but does not seem to help. Thank goodness the hot weather seems to have gone. I hated it.

Oh and I get it from Tesco.

I use the Arla lactose free, it lasts forever in the fridge. I only use a little on cereal in the morning and a litre lasts me around 10 days.

I worked in a supermarket and we were all trained that cages of chilled products should not be out of the chilled zone for more than 30 minutes, so half an hour from leaving the refrigerated warehouse to stacked on the refrigerators display shelves. We had refresher training videos every 3 months and had to pass a test at the end of the video. In practice though, it’s not impossible to exceed that, interruptions to help a customer can take a lot longer than you might think. There could be a problem with a particular lorry delivering to the store. There could be a problem with stock rotation so a half-emptied cage has been on the shop floor once or twice before being returned to the warehouse. Do always tell the store, they can’t investigate problems if they don’t know about them.

I get mine delivered monthly from Tesco. Have done for 20 years. Never had any problems and I freeze it too.

I have stopped buying Tesco milk for the same reason in our local store it is in a chilled section. I now buy all of my milk from Lidl the milk there is stored in fridges with doors to keep in the cold. I always buy the 4-pint packs and have not thrown any away since I swapped.

Our fridge has needed altering in this hot weather.
