Searching for recipe in Supercook magazine

Hi,
I am seeking a Supercook recipe that my late Mom and I used to make in the 1970s/1980s. I was so sure that I would remember the recipe for Biff a la Lindstrom and gave the magazine away. Now in old age, I think I remember the ingredients, but not the proportions. I have located the volume and page (Volume 2, page 169) but cannot locate the actual recipe. I hoping that some might still have copies of the magazine and might be so kind as to send me the recipe. Many thanks, in anticipation smile

4 servings
3 tablespoons butter
1 onion, finely chopped
11/2 lb lean minced beef
1 small egg
1 tablespoon capers, drained and finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons double cream
3 tablespoons very finely chopped beetroot
11/2 tablespoons vegetable oil

In a small pan, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over moderate heat. Add the onion and fry for 8 minutes until soft.
Transfer to a bowl. Ad the meat, egg, capers, paprika, salt, pepper and vinegar. Mix well with your hands. Moisten with cream, stir in the beetroot and shape into 4 large round patties.
In a large, deep frying pan, gently heat the remaining butter and the oil. Add the patties and cook over moderate heat for 7 minutes, or until deep brown on the outsides.
Remove from the pan, drain on kitchen paper and serve.

I used to work on Supercook and still have a complete set.

I loved Supercook and painstakingly collected every issue. Unfortunately, they got skipped when I moved house. How brilliant to have worked on it absent.

I had a full set in the binders and full set of Robert Carrier ( that's not spelt correctly) also in the binders got rid of them all before I moved.

I had a much loved old Margaret Patten book but I spilt pint of milk over it so had to be binned.

Hi, I remember those books, came out weekly. I've thrown many of them out but kept (or rather thought I had) the one with Chilli con carne recipe. I've had it for years, it's our go to chilli recipe and went to use it last week but can't find it so have been scouring the internet and ended up here.

The one I remember is different the one posted by 'absent' but they often had more than one version.

The version I can remember the ingredients of by heart but not the exact quantities

500g beef mince
1 large onion - diced
2/3 cloves garlic - crushed
2 bay leaves
cumin - approx 2-3 tsp ?
hot chilli powder 1-2 tsp ?
oregano - 1-2 tsp ?
1 tbs tom puree ?
tinned tomatoes - 1 tin
beef stock - 300ml ?
1 tin kidneys beans

..

I too have this series and love them.
I can recall putting the section in the binder when the newsagent delivered it each week. Recipes from all over the world.

When we hosted dinner parties in ther hayday in the 80's and 90's these volumns (along with Delia) became my bible - and still are. Although the white binders are no longer white and some pages have obviously become 'sticky' during usage.

I also seem to favour the first volumn as often it isn't returned to the kitchen cupboard shelf! We eat alot of beef (zoot alors - so shoot me!!).

However, I don't know this recipe but having read the recipe etc in the reply from 'Absent', I'm going to give it a try this weekend.

Looking forward to it. Thank you.

Basic recipe for Biff a la Lindstrom http://Swedish Spoon.com website described as beef pattie. It might not be the recipe but it looks interesting I’m going to try it out.
