Ooh Marydoll! Mention of the Berni Inns takes me bsck... we were regulars on a Saturday lunchtime in the 70s, fish, chips and peas, 37pence, washed down with a bottle of white or Mateus rose, and a French floater coffee afterwards! And when we had a bit more money, steak or duck a l'orange with a jacket potato, yummy! So sad to see them go.

No beans with chicken for me, although the grandchildren would like it.
Definitely mushrooms instead of beans, but I would really prefer green veg or corn.

I make mushrooms in a creamy sauce which I regularly serve on sour dough, and with haggis when we have it. It is delicious, and elevates the meal. It would be beautiful with chicken.

Sautéed mushrooms, black pepper, garlic, cheese of choice and a little double cream - yum!

I'm allergic to mushrooms so he has my vote. If I ate them I'd be in hospital with an adrenaline injection.

Ruby song: I pop mushrooms in the microwave on low, before frying them. So they take less time to cook than heating baked beans.

If I eat mushrooms with chicken it would be in the form of mushroom sauce, not just fried mushrooms, and I could simply not imagine eating fried mushrooms and chips together.

I imagine chicken and baked beans taste good together, must try it out.

My secret ingredient for chicken pie: M&S chunky chicken in white sauce to which I add cooked chicken & sometimes mushrooms or leeks.
