Hello everyone. Does anyone know if there’s a problem with skimmed milk at the moment? Recently I have been to a few supermarkets and they only seem to be stocking full fat or semi skimmed. Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

My DH works part time in our local Co-op and they always have it. He doesn't think there is any supply problem.

Thank you MiniMoon. I’ll maybe have to find a local Co-op. We noticed the lack of skimmed milk locally in Tesco, Morrisons & Aldi.

I buy long life skimmed milk from Morrisons. No apparent shortages.

No problem in Waitrose.

Plenty in Sainsbury’s up here.

BigBertha1 Wed 22-Nov-23 15:44:49

M & S have it.

I was in Tesco this morning and they only had a very few bottles of skimmed milk. They had none of the large (2 litre) bottles or small ones. It looks like Tesco definitely has a supply problem with skimmed milk as there was plenty of full fat and semi skimmed

I get my milk from Tescos, but had to have semi skimmed recently as no skimmed.

But it was so much nicer in our porridge and cocoa that I have kept buying the SS.

I can get it anywhere but Morrisons...they never seem to have it regardless of the day or time that I shop.. or on the occasions they do there will be just one litre bottles left

My local Sainsbury's haven't had the two litre bottles for several days. Twice recently I've had to buy one litre bottles. Wonder if it's a shortage of the larger containers.

I've never had a problem with obtaining skimmed milk,- which I always use, - but I haven't done proper shopping this week yet so maybe I'll find out tomorrow or Friday.
I can't imagine what would cause such a shortage, it's odd.

Smileless2012 Wed 22-Nov-23 17:02:46

I've not had any problems recently Minibookworm but in the past have found that Tesco or Aldi haven't had any.

rafichagran Wed 22-Nov-23 17:05:32

I had that problem last week and the doors assistant saud they had not had it for a few days, found some in another supermarket.

M0nica Wed 22-Nov-23 18:57:16

I buy the UHT skimmed milk and there doesn't seem to be a shortaage.

My Tesco delivery today came without my usual 4 pint bottle of skimmed milk. The delivery man said they don’t have it in their canteen atm.

Thanks for all your comments. Not sure what’s going on. Guess I’ll have to get used to semi skimmed for the time being. Calendargirl, I might have to have porridge for breakfast tomorrow after reading your comment.

Neither Island or Lidl have have it so I have to rely on going out of my way to the Coop.

I have also found that it goes off much quicker too.

Oops meant to type Iceland!!!

I did my weekly shop at my nearest Tesco this morning (Newton Abbot in Devon). There was plenty of skimmed milk, both fresh and long life. I bought one of each.. So it's puzzling that there are shortages elsewhere. Hopefully it will soon be ok.

UHT skimmed milk stil availaable at Waitrose.

Grannywool26 Mon 20-May-24 12:15:52

There is still a shortage of skimmed milk in the shops I go in.
Was worse in Scarborough to find last week 😔
