Sometimes, my husband and I enjoy having brunch during the week at home instead of a typical Menu del Día as we live in The Madrid Capital.
Eggs Benedict is quite versatile and can be prepared with either Smoked Salmon or Bacon or Ham. Eggs Florentine is quite a healthy alternative and French toast is always quite endearing.

The 28th of September: Saturday.
Headed over to our favourite Pizzeria Fratelli with dear friends.
I always have the Napoletano Classic Margherita..
Off to the shops ..

Friday: 27 / 09 / 2024 ..
Today my husband and I enjoyed a traditional Haddock baked Provençal fish with:
Fresh parsley
Extra virgin olive oil
Tomatoes - red ripe
Leek
Garlic
1 Small Onion
Salt & Black peppercorns grinded
The 5 Provençal Herbs both dry and fresh
White wine
Fish stock
Bay leaf
Lemon zest
Turned out lovely and the side was fresh green beans steamed with a French butter sauce.

With heavy winds and overcast skies, the Menu of the day calls for a hot soup: Angelhair Pasta with chicken broth with hot oven baked bread and leftover Meatloaf from yesterday.
Busy today and I dislike throwing leftovers out.
It is 14.00 here and it is all quite tasty.
25 / 09 / 2024 - Wednesday ..
Today is an Italian Meatloaf with 100% mince or ground beef from the Butcher.
Turned out scrumptuous.
Served with baked Jacks .. Always a true pleasure ..
The starter was a very simple salad .. tri color greens and tomato and cucumber peeled and strips of red bell ..
Chicken sautéed with shallots and garlic, new potatoes, carrots and cauliflower.
Wednesday, the 24th of September ..
Quite a chilly day today. What a true pleasure.
Lunch was:
Stir fried bok choi .. Such a lovely vegetable ..
For the main course ..
Roast Chicken - very classic .. with a baked sweet potato.
Monday, the 23rd of September ..
We started lunch with a toss of hard boiled eggs, white albacore tuna called Ventresca and a few boiled potatoes. It is a tapa here.
The main was a Coca, which is a Mallorcan Pizza and a traditional street food and the name is derived from the Latin verb Coquere which means to cook.
The key difference between a Coca and a Pizza is that there is usually no cheese on a coca.
It is prepared with bread dough, red bell, Swiss chard called Acelgas or one can use spinach leaves as well, sweet onion and Extra virgin olive oil, black peppercorns and salt. It is baked in sheets until the crust is golden.
Family here for a late lunch, pulled pork, coleslaw, home grown pickled beetroot and rolls, home made biscoffi cheesecake. Fine food, the best company.

Today, we had a Baked Lasagne with Ragú, sort of a Bolognese type meat sauce.
Turned out scrumptuous.

20 / 09: Friday.
We shall be lunching out as we do every Friday more or less. Since it is raining we shall stay close to home ..
Italian is the cuisine and our favourite is Da Giuseppina which transports one to Italy. The small trattoria contains a lovely Italian Gourmet Boutique and a grand assortment of Pastas from Italy and Carnaroli Risotto Rice.

Quite chilly in The Madrid Capital today, so I decided upon a traditional classic Lentil and Assorted Vegetable Stew.
The lentils were soaked overnight.
Turned out wonderfully and chockful of leek, celery, carrots, de-skinned tomatoes, onion, garlic cloves, turnip, parsley, salt, black peppercorns, and Provençal spices ..
Shall have tomorrow to finish up the huge pot ..
No more please!
Wednesday: 18 / 09 / 2024 ..
Lunch today:
To start we had a Baked Swiss Chard, Spinach & Ricotta Quiche and for the main, we had a simply prepared Roast Chicken ..
It was lovely to have lunch on our terrace and enjoy the afternoon ..
No dessert until later ..
Tuesday: 17 / 09 / 2024 ..
Today was a simple version of a Shellfish - Seafood Risotto, fresh squid, prawns and fresh clams were the basic with Carnaroli Rice ..
We shared a Caprese Salad with Fresh Burrata .. Tomatoes, Fresh Basil Pesto and Italian Extra virgin olive oil and pinenuts.
No dessert until later ( fresh fruits and cheeses ) with an Earl Grey ..
16 / 09 / 2024: Monday ..
Today, our lunch was entrécôte rare served with fresh green beans and a side of roasted red peppers.
Simply superbly splendid for a chilly 15 degree centigrade day.
A glass of Marqués de Murrieta - La Rioja red.
Perrier is always on the table ..
Dessert: Today some fresh fruit later this afternoon.

Today we enjoyed a lovely Paella with Shellfish ..
No dessert until "merienda / similar to tea time (17.00 to 19.00).

Saturday. The 14th of September 2024 ..
Today we had a simple coq au vin with breast of chicken and a lovely salad with tri color lettuces, cucumber, feta and red vine tomatoes ..
Prosecco Rosé ..
Perrier ..
Dessert was a few hours later and was a slice of Bizcocho, a Spanish Sponge with lemon .. and a non-tea bag, steeped authetic Earl Grey .. which a dear friend in Valencia had brought me from London.
Wednesday, the 11th of September 2024 ..
Our Main dish was a vegetable soup with Pistou (fresh basil, Extra virgin olive oil, freshly grated Parmesan Cheese and 2 tablespoons of pine nuts ).
Our dessert was "Mato" which is a ricotta cheese, honey, rasberry creation .. Lovely ..
Tuesday: The 10th of September 2024 ..
Last night I soaked alubias blancas ( similar to a white navy bean or northern bean) ..
So, today was a navy bean vegetable stew .. Simply hit the spot ..
The veggies included were: carrot, celery, leek,
peeled tomatoes, Galician sweet onion, garlic cloves, parsnips, parsley, salt, black peppercorns crushed, Spanish paprika, Provençal herbs dry and fresh.
With the seasons changing and related to the harvests and also the hunting season, there is a change in natural grown product availability too.
Friday - The 9th of September 2024 ..
Homemade baked meatloaf (100% beef from the Butcher) was the main.
Served with a lovely salad of beetroot, tri color greens, feta and radishes ..
A nice warm baguette.
Taco plate. Onion, garlic, black beans, cumin, oregano, lettuce, tomato, avocado, tortilla strips (fried from flat), Homemade tomato salsa.
