Snickers Bars! Oh I'm drooling!

You can get dark chocolate Kit Kat bars.

You can’t get dark chocolate Bounty bars any more either. They may bring them back but it’s doubtful.

NorthernGardener you have my sympathy being pregnant through July and August 1995. I gave birth to my youngest son in late June the day after the summer finally arrived. Everyone said he had brought the sunshine! Unfortunately he didn’t wear hardly any of the newborn clothes that were kindly bought for him as it was so hot, all he wore most of the time was a nappy and scratch mits !
I don’t like nuts so snickers are not on my list but I love chocolate and my current favourite is a dark chocolate orange. Being dark chocolate I can happily restrict myself to 2 or 3 pieces in an evening so it lasts me a while. I haven’t seen the popping candy chocolate oranges in the shops for ages though and I really like those as well.

I do like the occasional Snickers. Today I was given a big box of chocolates and a delicious lemon cheesecake (it's my birthday) so have already had a large slice of the cheesecake and will definitely be having some of the chocolates later too!

Calipso and missdeke 😆🤣😆
Snickers is my #1 candy bar - I have no willpower. Candy is getting expen$ive.
In this country Snickers was always Snickers.

Aldi and Lidle have substitutes for snickers

It used to be Clarnico Peppermint Creams. I would buy 'a quarter', every day, but managed to stop, eventually.
Missdeke, we had a neighbour, with 4 children. She would buy a pack of 6 doughnuts, and eat one when she got home. Then because there wasn't enough for everybody to have one after tea, she ate the rest! She was rather big!

Fortunately apart from during pregnancies weight gain has not been a problem for me, still only 8 stone 5 pounds at 75. Lucky really as I have a massive sweet tooth.

I've just had my lunch and I'm hungry again. Need to leave this thread.

Can I recommend a melted Mars bar over ice cream, it’s totally delicious!

I used to eat a Mars bar everyday on the way home from school !
Just one small bite is far too sweet for me now.
My teeth, of course suffered sad

I went on a Mars bar diet after childbirth, Mars for breakfast , lunch and dinner with vitamin pills. It worked! Baby weight went in a couple of weeks. I also bought a pack of four Mars bars for the three kids and me, however I decided to eat mine before I left the car park. Unfortunately it crossed my mind I'd have to watch the kids eat theirs and I wouldn't have one so I thought of popping back into the shop to buy another one but decided I'd rather eat the other three before I went home. So that's what I did! grin I think I may have been a bit addicted....

My DH was the only person I know who would have half a Snickers bar and save the rest for next day. I am moved to tears each time I walk past them in the supermarket.

Nipsmum………
I feel guilty now! I was prediabetic and sorted it with diet but my goodness I still do have a sweet tooth and have to rein myself in sometimes.
Some people do have the attitude that they will take the medication and put up with the consequences but I truly do not want that.
But now and again a bar of chocolate or slice of cake just finds its way to me.

nipsmum Wed 06-Dec-23 11:39:32

After being diagnosed with typed 2 Diabetes about 15 years ago and having worked very hard to be in remission now i avoid all sweet things. Now I find I don't want them. I do enjoy fruit though.

Quizzer Wed 06-Dec-23 11:36:24

Snickers yuch! Peanuts with chocolate is just wrong!

northerngardener Wed 06-Dec-23 11:34:27

Calipso

Are you pregnant?

Haha! That reminds me - an icecream Snickers bar was my daily afternoon need (definitely need not want!!) in the hot weeks of August 1995 before my daughter was born at the end of that month.

lixy Wed 06-Dec-23 11:24:19

A snicker bar is our 'keep you going' food, usually the half way point of a long walk. Then we have to walk the long way round home to use up all those calories!

AGAA4 Wed 06-Dec-23 11:16:25

I don't buy chocolate. If it's in the house I have to eat it. My DD bought me a Lindt advent calendar and now I want to open day 6 as I'm thinking about chocolate.
