I haven't seen these since, probably before Lockdown, and I really fancied some, but haven't been able to find any. Has anybody an idea of where I could find some, without involving Amazon? Thanks

Haven’t seen them for some time - have you tried the eastern section of Tesco ?

I haven't seen guava halves for years. Has anyone else noticed that the choice of tinned fruit in supermarkets has dwindled to the very basics, like peach slices, pineapple chunks and pear halves. You used to be able to get tinned lychees and other exotic fruits. Morrisons did tinned orange segments, not mandarin oranges but regular oranges. I used to use them for a fennel and orange salad I make or to add to yoghurt. They were very handy.

Tinned guavas had completely dropped off my radar. I used to love them and we ate them in my childhood quite regularly. A lot of their appeal was that they were a fruit version of tinned tomatoes.

I wonder why they have now practically ceased to be, at least at the supermarket level? They were much more a 'Legacy of Empire' foodstuff than a consequence of EU membership.

On a tight budget in my first bed sit many years ago I bought tins of guava halves cos they were so cheap and found I really liked them. Quite fancy some now. Maybe someone knows where you can get them.

We have a few Asian and Chinese stores in Southampton, not too far away, they sell them and a range of other canned fruits as well as fresh.

Aldi and Sainsbury I my area apparently stock them, may be they do where you are. A forgotten thing for me too, but I did like them.

We have them locally in Indian and middle Eastern supermarkets

Another canned fruit I loved and haven't found anywhere for about 15 years were blackcurrants. I know you can get frozen ones but they just aren't the same!

Thank you Jaxjacky. I shall return to Sainsburys for another forage and hope they're available this time!

I think we will have to visit a much larger Sainsbury and look in their World Food range.
