Jamie's Air Fryer meals

Why are there so many TV programmes about air fryers? 🤔

I don't have one (yet) but the fact that they are obviously being pushed is enough to put me off.

I think the AF used by Jamie would be useful, I like the small and large drawer sizes. My Tower dual drawer one is similar for under £100 on Amazon, but has equal sized drawers. I love it and use it every day for all the meals I have always cooked in oven or Remoska. I hate cleaning, so always line the drawers with a parchment liner inside a silicone liner to fit. This doesn't inhibit the cooking in any way. If you search under 'Air fryer accessories' you will find these items.

I have a small one which I use most days now but I think a two drawer one would be better so when this one fails I will buy a two drawer. I too have silicone liners which either go in the dishwasher or I just clean them in the sink. I’ve done all sorts in it including Shepards pie, and crumbles I hardly ever put my oven on anymore.

I have a three shelved one (also kept my old single drawer one as an extra, but not needed so far) one which gets used most days of the week at some point. Even if I haven't used it my son sometimes comes in late and he chucks in something for himself. You can used any container that you use in an oven, or a liner. My shelf one is easier to clean as they simply pull out and go into bowl to wash when I do the dishes, but the basket ones are non stick and no different to washing a saucepan really.

I've posted this once but it disappeared. We have. Ninja 9:1 which is an air fryer/pressure cooker.
We use it every day. We haven't had the oven on since Boxing Night when we had a lot of people here.
We cook everything in it that we previously cooked in the oven - frozen or fresh. We make bread soups, scones, boiled eggs, sausages, bacon etc. I have made a cottage pie, cheese and potato pie. Not much we can't do in it really.

I also have the Ninja 9-in-1, Kate1949 - it's a great piece of kit and does so much more than just simply air frying, as you say. As for Jamie Oliver's programme, it seemed to me to be more like an extended advert for Tefal than anything else.

Haven't used fitted oven since Xmas. Not only does an air fryer cook superbly (recently made a beautiful baked cheesecake) but it so much easier to handle with lightweight drawers, Gone is the anxiety of getting those heavy great dishes (I am talking to you le creuset) from a fierce oven, blasting heat at you.

We said the same about Tefal MissI.

After much thought because I didn’t really think I’d get much use out of yet another kitchen appliance I bought myself a two drawer machine a month ago. I love it, have used it just about every day and made all sorts of things in it from bacon, chicken, fries, I could go on!Its very easy to clean,I just pop the baskets into the dishwasher and so far I haven’t had to clean inside apart from a quick swipe with a dish cloth.I cleared a space to store it in a kitchen cupboard as I didn’t want it taking up room on the counter.I don’t know which model Jamie Oliver uses as I don’t get his show being in Canada but mine was around 60 pounds.

An air fryer is simply a small efficient oven. You need to think differently!

An air fryer is so much more than a small oven. Mine also grills, steams, pressure cooks, makes yoghurt, sautes and dehydrates.

We have the Ninja Dual Zone 9.5L - 2 drawers both the same size.
I use it in addition to my built in oven.
There are 5 of us and I really don’t know how you could cook a full meal for all of us in the air fryer???
Must admit I’m not a big fan of it - much prefer the proper oven - even if I’m just cooking for myself & my husband.
My son and his girlfriend love the air fryer and use it every day.
I think I would have preferred a shelf type air fryer (like a small oven).
It’s also a pain to clean.
If mine broke I wouldn’t replace it.
Make sure you do your research and decide what is best for your needs.
Maybe I’m missing something, but I really can’t see what all the fuss is about 🤷‍♀️

I bought my air fryer becfore they became popular on the insistence of DD who had one and found it excellent.

I just have one with a saucepan like space and handle, quite sufficient for 2. The 'saucepan' goes into the dishwasher, just like any other saucepan and now and again I wipe out the sucepan sized cavity with a damp cloth.

I also have a Tefal one but with 3 shelves. I line the trays with a baking liner I found in a local shop or foil and find that it’s quite easy to clean. I use it most days.
Saying that I did like the look of the 2 drawer type Jamie used!

I’m glad we decided to go for an air fryer. It’s a two drawer one, with one drawer slightly larger than the other.
With respect to cleaning it, I don’t find it a chore at all, certainly not a pain. I bought some silicone type liner from Lakeland (the one with holes in) and cut it to size to fit the drawers and go over the top of the removable trays that come with the fryer, which cuts down on any mess. A quick wipe of the pan with soapy water does the trick, and the trays wash in soapy water as easily.
I wipe the cavity and the element with a very well wrung out damp cloth once it has cooled down, but the cloth comes out virtually clean anyway. The drawers of my model are designed to go in the dishwasher, but I never have done, it’s so simple to clean them by hand.
I decided also to buy some silicone containers which come in very useful, too.

I bought an air-fryer with two separate drawers recently. My DH loves it and finds it easy to cook basic foods when I’m not here. I have silicone liners and racks to go in both drawers.

As for Jamie. We watched it last night and tbh, the programme was quite interesting. I think I might try it out sometime.

I’ve succumbed this morning to an excellent deal in Tesco. I worked out that I only need to use mine for 6 weeks a year for one year for it to pay for itself. I’ve got an Everhot range, which is on all the time normally, so I didn’t think it was worthwhile getting an air fryer too, but the Everhot costs £15 a week to run, and you can’t switch it on and off in the summer because it takes four hours to warm up. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before, very dim of me.
Mine is a Tower 5 in 1 air fryer oven with shelves, and it was £40 off for clubcard holders. It’s still in the box, so I hope it’s good.

we have a tower air frier with 3 shelves and I love it , I'm still experimenting, I have cooked chicken which turned out lovely, soft and not dry, bacon, sausage, chips,...I haven't tried baking yet...there's a tray which catches any drips, and it's very easy to clean..

I bought a Tefal one drawer air fryer 2 weeks ago so I am learning my way. As for the Jamie Oliver programme the recipes were interesting but the constant "come on" and endless hand waving was irritating!

Seeing as Jamie Oliver has had a partnersp with Tefal since early 2000s, it's not surprising really.

Hadn't thought of buying an AF until oven packed up last weekend so thought I'd try an inexpensive model to fill the gap. Took delivery of Tower 3 drawer yesterday and very impressed so far. Can see myself not bothering to get oven repaired.

I bought a small one last year like a few of you didn't want to take up space in my cupboards, how I wish I bought a bigger one ! I had one 15yrs or so ago it had a mesh basket and was difficult to clean, I use grease proof paper in the new one so easy to clean .

I think its main problem is being called an 'air fryer'! I didn't consider one for years as I mistakenly thought it was just a fat free alternative to deep frying which I don't do.

But due to reading about them on Gransnet I bought a basic model, and find it brilliant! I have a big range cooker, which is great for Christmas, entertaining etc., but as most of the time there is just me, the air fryer is perfect.

Anything from baking, stir fries, roasting, re-heating left over or frozen meals, to toasting nuts or seeds quickly is so easy. A baked potato only takes about 20 minutes to half an hour, as opposed to the hour needed in a standard oven. A time saver, a money saver and a work saver.

The pull out bit only needs to have a bit of boiling water poured in and then a wipe clean, the interior needs a very occasional clean, and the outside is very quick and easy to wipe over as you would the outside of a kettle.

I made these for lunch today in the air fryer, Jamie Olives recipe, cheese scones. Very nice!
