I was thrilled to win not only 1st Prize for my Green Tomato Chutney (with Fig) but also Best Exhibit in Homecraft Division at Parish Day show. The icing on the cake was hearing that one of the judges wanted the recipešŸ˜ Also picked up 2 2nd prizes for my Granny's Lemon Curd and Nectarine Jam. Who else loves this great British tradition?

Well done.

I have a diploma hanging on my wall, for ā€˜Arrangement of Wild Flowers’ which I won at a local show when I was 7. First and Last time, but still proud of it!

My daughter loved to enter the children's classes at our local show. She won the overall children's trophy twice and also the competition for the tallest sunflower in the village, which she was very chuffed with!

That's so lovely to hear. My kids have never shown any interest.

Couldn't enter anything in our Allotment Summer Show this year due to an operation but last year I came first in the knitted craft section, for knitting a fruit bat! šŸ˜‚

That's wonderful, wish I could knit! Sorry you had to miss out this year. x

Well done Camilla7 I tend to kill plants except for weeds and grass. If not personally, with help from various wild animals who live in the garden.

I absolutely love these shows. We always entered exhibits when we had our allotment.

The smell of the marques and exhibits - flowers, onions etc speaks of high summer to me.

Well done. You must be so pleased with yourself. I love going to both horticultural and agricultural shows to see all the skills, crafts, and creations made by members of the public and related business.

Well done. Love the sound of the Green Tomato Chutney with Fig. The curd/ jam sound delicious also.

I’ve never entered one but am thinking of going to a local one this year.
I love to see what people can do. My friend has entered at a few where she lives.

I’d never enter anything like this because I don’t have the skills but I love to go to these shows and see what others have done. When I say I don’t have the skills, I do, but not to a level that I’d be prepared to be judged on! grin

This year, in my new garden, I’ve been growing things new to me, yellow courgettes, cucumber, runner beans and pumpkins. None of them are beauties and the cucumber plant produced just one short and fat cucumber but the sheer pleasure I’ve had from watching them grow and eating the cucumber (enough for one meal!) is immeasurable. ā¤ļø

I used to have to go round the local shows to report on them for the local paper. One year, another reporter and I were in the industrial tent (baking etc) when we saw an elderly lady hovering around near the baking. When she thought no-one was looking, she'd sneak a cake or other treat out from the table and put it in her bag!

Well done !
I bet that they are delicious .
I'm not entering this year , but possibly next as I'm having some fence repairs .
One neighbour has foxes and the other four cats .
I really can't show my flowers at the moment !
