Dyeing fondant icing

You can paint with food colouring.

Buy a plain sponge and some separate white fondant icing and colour with tiny drops of food colouring. You will get a more even finish.

I've done it ,but have a mock up session.
The more colour you add - the wetter it can become .

You could probably paint it on.

I make a lot of cakes one of the favourites is a guitar shape that I paint with strong coffee it works well as I can vary the strokes to simulate wood.but it dries shiny on the fondant .Just roll out a block of. Fondant and try different colourings and let them dry to see what the result will be .

And use a paste colour and a decent size brush

You could always take a photo of an actual Amazon parcel, and have that put on the cake in the shop? 😉

You can buy ready roll icing, colour it, cut out shapes and stick it on to the iced cake so you have a raised motifs.

Elless if you are going to paint the picture on use food colouring gel not food colouring in liquid form as it will make the icing soggy and bleed into the other colours. Hope you post a picture of the finished cake .

Thanks Whiff, I've already bought edible ready printed labels. I think I will bake my own sponge and buy ready to roll fondant and colour it but I'll test the colour on small bits first.
