I have lost my recipe for gingerbread men. Does anyone have a simple foolproof one? I found one amongst the GN recipes but it requires a food processor which I do not have. Thanks.

There are good recipes on the BBC food website. I have used the 40 minute one and it has always worked well. I do my mixing by hand and this recipe always comes out fine.

An old thread from 2015 has been resurrected with recipes.

Goodness Greenfinch!. The recipe on the other thread is YOURS!! Amazing.

How very odd Georgesgran that the old thread should pop up just after I posted. Thanks for drawing my attention to it. I am very glad to be reunited with my recipe.

When I looked back at the recipe section of GN I found this recipe on there posted by HildaW. The mystery deepens. Did I pinch it from her?If so I apologise .😊

An (early) timely reminder that you can make Reindeer biscuits by turning the gingerbread man cutter upside down……

What a good idea LucyAnna. All I have to do now is to locate my cutter!

Thanks for the gingerbread/reindeer reminder. I'd never have thought of that. 🦌🦌🦌

Gingerbread men or other shapes
350g p flour
1-2 teaspoon of ginger to taste
1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
100g spread or butter
175g soft light brown sugar
1 medium egg
4 tablespoons golden syrup.

2 trays lined with baking paper
Oven 180° or 160° fan

This is the correct way to do it
Mix flour ,ginger and bicarb
Rub in fat stir in sugar
Add egg and golden syrup mix well and knead.
Roll out to 8mm thick and use cutters .

Bake 14-16 mins .

When cooking them with my grandsons they can do it all . I just put the biscuits on the trays and bake and put onto cooking rack.

This is my way as my hands won't let me do it the usual way. I call then ginger rocks.

Put spread ,sugar and golden syrup into mixing bowl. Microwave until fat melted .
Add dry ingredients and egg and using a spoon mix together .

Put spoon fulls of mixture onto trays bake 15-18 mins .

Either way tates delicious.

For the past couple of years I’ve bought ready made ones, gingerbread men and 🎄trees, that come with tubes of piping icing and mini Smarties for decoration. Gdcs have enjoyed doing that, but making them will be a lot more satisfying!

I’m busy making felt gingerbread men as Christmas decorations. Mine will last longer!
