Jalapeno Hummus,

(15 Posts)

My sister helped out at her local community fridge and has given me 6 x 500g tubs of Jalapeno Hummus (Ramonas) - apparently it was me or the bin!

I am desperate for ideas of what to do with it all. Luckily there is still a week on the date. I was hoping for some type of soup ideas. Unfortunately I have no room in the freezer.

Help!

I think your options are limited, I’d be contacting friends/family and give it away.

Soup made from hummus?

Not sure about that.

You can't make soup from hummus. I've never frozen it either.

Eat what you can tolerate and throw the rest away! Or as some have said, give it away.

Next time just say you'll have one or two packs and let her throw the rest away. It wasn't yours in the first place!

I love jalapeño hummus although it can be very hot. I have it with cheese and crusty bread. I don’t think it would be very nice in soup. What is not eaten can be frozen for a few months.

If you google hummus crusted chicken or fish there are lots of recipes online and they look very tasty.

This recipe uses hummus to make the tomato soup creamy without adding extra cream.

I think this recipe uses plain or red pepper hummus. Probably jalapeño would be far too strong.

Well you learn something every day, I wouldn't have thought of doing that.

Definitely worth a try. I’ve frozen hummus quite successfully.

They look quite nice, don't they?

I've got an ancient tin of chickpeas in my cupboard.
I might have a go at knocking something up with them now.
