Definitely not.
Cats and dogs can eat suspect food .
If it's really suspect your clever cat won't touch it .

When in doubt chuck it out. If you had a dog or cat you could have cooked it for them.

That's a bit unfair to the cat.

Uugghh definitely better in the bin. Food poisoning is no joke, better safe than sorry.

I would have eaten it, if it didn’t reek.

It doesn't smell off but I've binned it to be on the safe side. It's been an expensive mistake but not worth risking being ill for.
Thanks everyone for responding.

Calendargirl

I started a thread yesterday about using out of date items, but would be dubious about both fish and chicken.

If it smells at all ‘off’, a definite no, but must admit would not be keen to use it.

Neither would I.
An expensive mistake but chuck it away.

Smell it.

No, I wouldn't eat it.

Not here it wouldn’t, don’t know about where you are. If it is very, very cold maybe. It would be off in an hour in our Summer.

No. Not at all. Fish needs to be kept refrigerated

Usedtobeblonde Sun 16-Mar-25 12:01:16

I would say definitely not.
Fish needs refrigeration and I would not be happy even trying it.

Ziggy62 Sun 16-Mar-25 11:56:10

You will definitely know by the smell of fish if its ok

Doodledog Sun 16-Mar-25 11:25:14

Does it smell ok? If so, I would cook it, taste it and decide from that. If there is a dodgy smell at any point I would bin it or give it to the cat if you have one.

It's probably fine, unless you've had the heating on full blast or it was under a sunny window.

I accidentally left a sealed pack of Sea Bass Fillets on the kitchen worktop for 24 hours when it should have been in the fridge.

Do you think it would still be safe to cook and eat?
