Handful of frozen stir -fry mixed veg in a small pot with more than enough water to cover. Boil until reduced enough to make Bisto gravy of the veg + water.

Pour the vegetable gravy over some (powdered) mashed potato.

Pepper to taste.

Oh I love these. I hate cooking so lots of good ideas here.

Defrost frozen onion pieces in microwave, then fry with pure minced meat, add tinned tomate pulp, tinned lentils, quarter of cube oxo and some concentrated tomato paste. All done in 5/10 mins.
I suppose you could eat it with bread/ rice/potatoes/pasta but with the 250g of lentils I don’t.

Sea bass fillets in air fryer with salad.

Grilled tomatoes on toast if the weather is cold, tomato and marmite sandwich if it’s warm. Don’t do it often as both are best with lashings of butter. Butter is my weight control downfall every time!

Ring for a taxi to go to one of our numerous and varied local restaurants, DH know the look after all these years.

If I’m feeling lazy/on my own eggs are my go to

2 fried eggs chips done in the air fryer slice of bread and butter

Mushroom omelette with baked beans on top

I can do meals that are more adventurous Im a reasonably good cook but often can’t be bothered unless cooking for others too so the above are quick and tasty when it’s just me

Tin of soup with buttered crusty bread, or omlette/fishfingers with airfryer chips quick simple

Living on my own, I batch cook, or rather pretend I’m cooking for the family. I have all sorts in the freezer now. Just take one out and use it. As I don’t label them, it’s often a surprise!

I do that too. It's fun sometimes not knowing what you're going to eat.

Burger or pizza from the freezer
Jacket potato

My neighbour used to tell her husband it was barbecue night so he would cook

I have never enjoyed cooking. I think I was ‘spoilt’ as a child, teenager and did nothing to help my mother, but she was happy with that.

If I had a choice I would live on French bread, sour dough bread, cheese, pate, wine and fruit. Plus a glass of wine and a cheese straw.

I know I am completely decadent and verging on lazy. It’s lucky my DH has put up with me for 54 years in October. He is a good cook 👍

Pizza / Chinese

Or corner tapas bar ..

One tray bakes are great. Chicken breasts with potatoes and any other veg you fancy including frozen. Likewise frozen fish with veg. I often add lemon juice or balsamic vinegar. These dishes also work well with chorizo or bacon lardons and a few herbs fresh or dried. The added bonus is that there is only one dish to wash, job done!

Scrambled eggs. 2 minutes 😁
Toast --if you can be bothered--

Shove two sainsbury's southern fried chicken thighs in air fryer - when you go back into the kitchen to refill your wine glass throw some frozen chips in.

This is easier than toast for me FGT as the air fryer is out on the worktop but the toaster is in a cupboard.

Failing that a marmite sandwich or lump of cheese with crackers, buttered if I can be bothered.

dogsmother Sat 12-Apr-25 15:51:36

Mushroom omelette using a bag of pre sliced mushrooms.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 12-Apr-25 15:46:59

Chicken thighs in oven covered with peri peri sauce.
Shut oven door & forget about them for 50 minutes.
Read a book.
Switch oven off.
Ping a bag of rice in the microwave for 2 minutes.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 12-Apr-25 15:45:50

Jacket potato - easy peasy.

Wyllow3 Sat 12-Apr-25 15:45:15
