Too much garlic in home made soup

I made a huge batch of lentil soup not from my usual recipe but from one that had really good reviews on the internet.
BIG MISTAKE strong taste of garlic which ruined the taste of the soup.
So ladies is there anything I can do other than throw the whole batch away.
I have no idea what to add which will tone down the taste.
Ideas would be much appreciated.

I am a garlic fiend there is never too much in a dish. However if you think it’s overpowering add a lot of your favoured herb. Such as rosemary thyme or coriander but not parsley. That’s too pungent with lentils it’s better with fish.

You can dilute the garlic by simply adding more volume.

Make another batch of lentil soup with no garlic, then stir the two batches together and freeze the extra.

Or add more volume in some other way, whether more lentils, broth, rice or whatever. Good luck with it. smile

Blueberry Pie beat me to it! I was going to suggest making another batch, minus the garlic and mix the two together.

I detest garlic and every dish on a menu seems to have garlic in it nowadays

Add some peeled unsalted potatoes and remove after bringing to the boil and simmering for a few minutes -they should absorb the excess garlic .
It works for salt .
Garlic is an amazing natural antibiotic if you can bear the taste !

I agree with Redhead56. No such thing as too much garlic.

Thanks everyone for you advice, I'm taking on board a couple of the ideas.
Fingers crossed.
