Too much garlic in home made soup

Thanks everyone for you advice, I'm taking on board a couple of the ideas.

I agree with Redhead56. No such thing as too much garlic.

Add some peeled unsalted potatoes and remove after bringing to the boil and simmering for a few minutes -they should absorb the excess garlic .
It works for salt .
Garlic is an amazing natural antibiotic if you can bear the taste !

I detest garlic and every dish on a menu seems to have garlic in it nowadays

Blueberry Pie beat me to it! I was going to suggest making another batch, minus the garlic and mix the two together.

You can dilute the garlic by simply adding more volume.

Make another batch of lentil soup with no garlic, then stir the two batches together and freeze the extra.

Or add more volume in some other way, whether more lentils, broth, rice or whatever. Good luck with it.

I am a garlic fiend there is never too much in a dish. However if you think it’s overpowering add a lot of your favoured herb. Such as rosemary thyme or coriander but not parsley. That’s too pungent with lentils it’s better with fish.
