Does anyone have a recipe for making marshmallows please?

Looks like you can't avoid the syrup, but she does say it's available in supermarkets. And if you're working with sugar, a thermometer is essential. Reading the thermometer is part of the learning process. You don't say how old she is but any child old enough to help in the kitchen is probably old enough to read numbers.

Honestly putting marshmallows in the microwave is brilliant, years ago I (or rather my 8 year old son) won a school science competition for doing that and explaining the results. I was so proud

That sounds like something my dgd would like to try.

My kids used to love putting a marshmallow on a digestive biscuit, putting both in the microwave, watching the marshmallow grow and then putting another digestive on the top and eat the resulting sandwich.

Sorry I dont, BUT…..have you ever put a Marshmallow in the microwave……it needs watching closely to stop it as the Marshmallow gets ginormous!! Hope you get more sensible answers soon!
