Crisp Sandwiches

So doing a bit of gardening today and needed a quick snack for lunch.

Had a crisp sandwich. White bread with a good amount of butter, salt and vinegar crisps and an extra dash of vinegar for good measure!

I enjoy crisp sandwiches as an occasional snack, my children think I am disgusting!

Which side of the fence are you on?

Love them! Cold new potato sandwiches too.

Ooh no! I don’t think I could stomach that!

A ham sandwich demand crisps, expensive ham and really crunchy thick cut crisps.

Mr Soda likes a mashed potato sandwich - yuk.

I'm usually a sucker for rubbish/comfort food but never has a crisp or a chip or a fish finger sandwich ever passed my lips.

I may give the crisp sandwich a go after reading this - I'm veering towards cheese and onion with cheap white totally unhealthy bread. With or without marmite I wonder - or the Dairylea triangle even.

Every once in a while I get a notion for a crisp sandwich - but I don't really eat much bread these days, so I never seem to have any in the house when that notion arrives! Either that or the crisps have all disappeared!

Not had one for years... but loved them as a teenager in the summer only.

I worked every summer at the seaside and I associate them with sunshine.
Best on the beach as a treat - especially yummy when nearly out of cash!

I enjoy ham and ready salted crisps in bog standard white sliced bread, with real butter.

Do you crisp sandwich experts recommend proper butter or my "I like to believe it's better for me" olive oil spread?

It would have to be a very bad hangover!

Ugh, even the thought disgusts me😨Crisps are crisp and bread is soft, sounds like a horrible combination…
I feel the same about chip sandwiches/fish finger sandwiches (Steve Allen loved those) too.
I grew up with friends eating sugar sandwiches, another yuck for me😁

Oh cheese & crisp butty, or just plain with a little ketchup 😋

Butter for sure, way too expensive now

I think marmite might be way too salty. Try plain salted crisps & the cheese triangle.

Not had one of those since I was five, and mum said I would zoom off to the moon for putting mash spuds on my bread 😂

When I was young I loved a chip sandwich with butter melting no the hot chips and salt and pepper
My grandmother used to give us beef dripping spread n read with loads of pepper.
A dieticians and healthy living coaches nightmare.

Crisp butties are great, it’s years since I‘ve had one!

Bridie22 Sun 24-Aug-25 19:57:55

Cheese or tuna sarnie with cheese and onion crisps, perfect.

Witzend Sun 24-Aug-25 20:04:21

Can’t say I’ve ever fancied one, but I’m not mad on crisps anyway - except for Walkers Sensations lime and coriander ‘poppadums’.

Cheese and onion crisps, proper butter and squashy bread - yummy.

Save the marmite to go with peanut butter in a different ‘once a year’ treat.

Strong grated cheddar cheese, mixed with a tiny bit of mayo to make it spreadable, cheese and onion crisps.
Delicious 😋

You can’t beat a good chip butty, even better if it’s made with a Scottish “morning roll” 😋 Haven’t had one or a crisp sandwich in years!

Bukkie Mon 25-Aug-25 08:20:59

hollysteers - the beauty of a crisp sandwich is the difference textures. That first crunch is amazing.

kittylester Mon 25-Aug-25 08:29:22

There is nothing like rubbish white sliced bread, slathered in proper butter with crisps or chips.

Sadly, it doesn't work with gf bread.

My mum used to have them when I was a child! Probably still does despite being diabetic!!
