Melting chocolate with butter and water for an Oreo cake

I do have a slice occasionally when one of the family has a birthday 😀

Allira, I would bake a chocolate cake and freeze it in slices. I’ve never found a chocolate mug cake recipe that was really satisfying and frozen cake takes very little time to thaw.

Doesn’t help that I had a THR a month ago though being without pain at last is wonderful.

I've a similar recipe, butter water mix melts chocolate well.

I prefer to melt chocolate over steaming water,but I have followed recipes which call for it to be melted in water and butter .
I think that it's OK.

The chocolate will seize if you put water in after it has been melted. It won’t seize if it’s melted WITH water and butter as the butter stops that happening. It means you end up with liquid chocolate (rather than chocolate which will reset once cool) which may well be very important for the recipe.

There’s a great looking Halloween cake on that site too, which I think I’ll make if I have time.

If you read the comments below the recipe a couple recommend leaving out the water, that's what I'd do. Cake looks great.

The water doesn’t mix in with the ingredients it’s just used in the pan beneath the chocolate and butter to melt them, you get a lovely shiny mixture doing it this way.

This is so- you need to melt it in a bowl over a pan of just - simmering water, making sure that the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water.
You can use a microwave on a low setting, stirring every 10 seconds, alternatively.
Chocolate, as you can see by my name, is an area of interest to me !
