I was reading an online article earlier that said tinned food has fallen out of favour nowadays compared to years back.

I still buy a fair bit, even though I buy a lot of fresh food too.

Tinned tomatoes, canned tuna and mackerel, baked beans, canned mushy peas and tinned fruit for example.

What about you?

Beans of all kinds, marrow fat peas, tuna, sweetcorn, soups, tomatoes, sardines. I also have a penchant for tinned sliced peaches, though I eat mainly fresh fruit this is something I loved as a child, tinned peaches with evaporated milk or custard.

Baked beans, sweetcorn, butter beans and red kidney beans. I am vegetarian and I don't like tinned fruit so that's about it.

Also have tins of tuna and tomatoes, but not bought these for ages.

No not really. Tinned tomatoes for cooking and baked beans.

StripeyGran Mon 03-Nov-25 19:24:57

Butter beans, haricot beans, tomatoes, soup ( standby), mushy peas.

I know this isn't the question but frozen mixed fruit is very nice and cheap too.

I like to keep a reasonable stock of tinned food, especially during the winter months - usually have things like various types of beans, fish such as tuna, mackerel or sardines, coconut milk and tinned tomatoes.

Nobody mentioned chopped ham and pork aka Spam a favourite of my dh.

Allira Mon 03-Nov-25 19:48:10

A reasonable amount.

Some tinned fruit, tuna, sardines, baked beans, tomatoes, coconut milk. DH keeps buying tinned soup although I make soup. Oh, and he buys Ambrosia custard.

Yes always stocked up. Beans, tuna tomatoes. Sometimes when I can't be bothered cooking beans on toast does me for dinner.

pably15 Mon 03-Nov-25 20:14:44

baked beans, black beans, tomatoes, fruit, tomato soup, creamed rice.

Marilla Mon 03-Nov-25 20:23:06

Sardines, kidney beans, baked beans and chopped tomatoes.

TillyTrotter Mon 03-Nov-25 20:23:36

Baked beans, chilli beans, tomatoes, tuna, drinking chocolate, coffee, pineapple rings, and coconut milk on occasion when making a favourite soup recipe.
They are heavy to carry so frozen fruit and veg (or fresh) may be favoured by people who don’t drive.

Smileless2012 Mon 03-Nov-25 20:23:56

baked beans, tomatoes, soup, sweet corn

CanadianGran Mon 03-Nov-25 20:26:43

Similar to others: beans, lentils, tuna, tomatoes, some fruit.

How often do I open a tin? Once or twice a week, so I am not using a lot of tinned food.

Tenko Mon 03-Nov-25 20:28:46

Not really , baked beans , kidney beans, chickpeas, tomatoes and tuna . I’ve never been a fan of tinned fruit.
