I was reading on another forum things people find it too troublesome to make, as ready made is just as good. I saw a lot of mentions of pasta sauce ( albeit with additions), with Prego being a popular suggestion.
I rarely make pastry, but would certainly buy ready made, and probably even ready rolled! I’ve also used Idaho mashed potato, as my wrists aren’t up to serious mashing.
What do you buy these days, or wouldn’t you even consider ready made?

I agree re custard, tinned is really quite nice !

Lasagne, I used to love making it but the time, mess and washing up has made it a chore for just the two of us.
I used to make all types of pastry religiously, having learned this at school, but after seeing a famous TV cook say they just buy the ready made type I decided to try it and haven’t looked back since.

Perhaps I scratch cook as 'just the two of us' happens rarely. Our family enjoy lasagna, I make it often, don't consider it a faff.
I do make cheese straws now and then. Any bought ones, including from Waitrose, usually taste as if they’ve barely been shown a bit of cheese.
The recipe I use makes exceedingly moreish cheese straws - they always vanish PDQ so a double quantity is invariably called for.
Here in Germany not many pre-prepared things are available, and I usually find that "ready-made" things are those that can be most easily made from scratch anyway, such as shortcrust pastry, pancake batter, basic cake mixes. I often get fresh pasta but I never made that from scratch anyway as I don't have a pasta maker which rolls the stuff dough out as thin as necessary.
I do occasionally get "pizza kits" which consist of a pizza base which you just unroll and a jar of tomato sauce to spread on it. It's quicker than making a yeast dough, but I also have a recipe for a quark/oil dough which is quickly rustled up and is just as good.
Mince pies I have to make from scratch, including the mincemeat which is dead easy and really tasty when made fresh.
Many previously mentioned, but I’m a keen attender at Church/charity fairs and pick up homemade cakes, chutneys and jams.
I’m more of a main course cook and don’t bake.

I make every meal from scratch apart from Saturday meal. I make sauces and bag and freeze. don't eat alot of potatoes but I do buy frozen fries.
I make rough puff pastry and shortcrust I always have done. I have tried ready made pastry I think it's tasteless.
My mum was a cookery teacher and even she bought ready made puff pastry as she said it wasn't worth the effort. I don't make pastry of any kind - I rarely use it but if I do it has to be eady made. My mum was horrified to find me buying crumble mix and insisted on making me a big plastic box full to keep in the fridge, but once it ran out I went back to buying ready made. However I did add rolled oats to it to improve the texture and make it less sweet. Living alone I don't bake any more and don't make puddings either - if I want dessert I buy individual dessert pots, yogurt or fruit.
Custard, lasagne ^ chips were all things I did make once but no longer. Never did make marmalade so still buy it but I make a lot of jam. I can't believe people actually buy mashed potato, I didn't know you could get this incredibly basic, simple item ready made!! You learn something every day!
I used to make rough puff pastry many years ago but stopped when it became a faff. I still make shortcrust and choux pastry. We cook from scratch but do have fish & chips occasionally and sometimes a ready meal. Following the food guy on instagram has encouraged us to read the ingredients and some of those lists are very long. Shall continue to cook from scratch!
Goodness, you all make me feel so lazy,
Pasta sauce (with additions)
All pastry
Custard
All jams/marmalade/pickles
Gravy granules
We do buy coffee beans though, grind them and use them for our morning coffee.
Parsley sauce.
Custard, puff pastry, Curry. Everything else I make from scratch as i still like cooking even though I’m 81 and live on my own.
I used to spend hours in the kitchen .
I'd cook for the weekend every Friday to free up some time.
I used to bake cakes for the homes that I volunteered at .
I enjoyed cooking a great deal .
I made pastries ,jams and marmalades.
Now I've lost interest in cooking.
It began with my parents not liking particular foods - it was a thankless task .
I far prefer to watch an interesting programme or read or write or do my art work .

Puff pastry and to my shame I buy dumpling mix just for quickness.
Even my ancient Good Housekeeping cookery book (published around 1970) said it wasn’t worth bothering to make puff pastry when what you can buy is almost certainly better than what you and your rolling pin can produce.

I've made chutneys, jams, passata etc but there are such good readymade ones now why would I slave over the hob?
Same here, though I'll consider marmalade again next year as I've gone back to using my pressure cooker.
I'd certainly rather have readymade Italian passata, you can't often get good Italian tomatoes at a reasonable price. Bought puff pastry is a no-brainer.
I do occasionally make baked egg custard but for everyday runny custard the bought stuff is fine.
One thing I don't often buy is a crumble, they're so quick to make, you can avoid margerine and oils and just use butter. But the M&S Mixed Berry crumble is delicious!
I also make my own meat sauce for spaghetti, it's so quick in a pressure cooker. However I always buy the Loyd Grossman Puttanesca Sauce, much better than mine.

Oh Croissants!
I don't make those anymore either!
Croissants.
Our GC like croissants, we don't eat croissants, I purchase.
Don’t make my own mince pies, Christmas cake anymore or puff pastry. Buy pasta and pesto but make my own sauces even for a stir fry but might add a Thai sauce for a curry. Life is too short to faff around but almost everything else is from scratch ! Himself does the mash👍
Puff pastry, baked beans and sometimes mayonnaise.
Virtually anything l can buy chilled or frozen. Not in great health. Difficulties in moving and using hands and arms
Life's to short to stuff a mushroom.
Enjoy your food folks.

Custard.
Occasionally supermarket fruit pies.
Fishcakes sometimes, but we all prefer my homemade ones.
Mashed potatoes, I try not to eat potatoes due to diabetes, so I buy frozen for my husband as arthritis in my hands makes it painful to hold and peel the potatoes
Puff pastry and to my shame I buy dumpling mix just for quickness.
It would have to be the supermarket takeaway, or the meal prepared at the local pub/restaurant.
