We hardly ever have cakes or biscuits in the house (we’d only scoff them, so they’re for when we have guests only) but I’ve just scoffed an entire tin of pitted black cherries. 🐷😋

Over to you….

I happened on an easy recipe for savoury carrot and cheese flapjacks. They are definitely 'something nice'. I make them twice a week; just the job at 11 ish with a coffee. And about right now with a mug of tea.

Ooh, could you post the recipe here, please?

Marmin I'd really appreciate the recipe for your healthy flapjacks. I love savory bites. smile

Marmin They sound yummy. Can you post the recipe please.
I am always on the lookout for vegetarian recipes.

My 'something nice' is a lemon madeleine dunked in a cup of coffee.

If Marmin misses this then there is a recipe online from
Riverford Organic Farmers that I use
Very simple recipe but tasty

Marmin Mon 29-Jun-26 16:27:24

Recipe coming up. Be prepared to grate!
175g grated carrot.
175g grated cheese
150g oats
One egg
Salt and pepper and half teaspoon dried herbs of choice - I use oregano.
Mix by hand is easiest I find then, using a small baking sheet lined with parchment,I press the mixture until it is desired depth. Use the parchment to tidy the sides and dot the surface with tiny spots of butter. 25 mins at 170 fan.
I use a full flavoured cheese (cornish Quartz) and it certainly produces excellent results.

There is definitely something about hot weather that brings out a yearning for some sweet or sweetish treat, isnt there? Bit of a loosening of the control...

I did smile there Shel1951 at the "in-car consumption" of naughties, but managed to control myself in Tescos by treating myself en route a walk to a punnet of good raspberries, wolfed the lot down, instead of the Danish pastries placed strategically lurking near the Costa coffee machine.

I bought a large box of cherries from Tesco last week, they were delicious...hadn't had cherries for ages

Today I read about the new M&S strawberry creme sandwich. I enjoyed a few last summer and thought I would try this year's chocolate and pistachio one. When I got there they had both types so I bought one of each and ate both for brunch! blush
They also had some large packs of cherries, so I bought one of those too! I only went for cottage cheese which I have been unable to find at Asda recently.

In for a penny .....shysal

Shel1951 Mon 29-Jun-26 17:15:21

Wyllow3 ...today I would definitely gone for the Danish pastries smile

pably15 Mon 29-Jun-26 17:18:26

Almond Magnums are my go to in hot weather😋

You’re shameless hussies, all of you. But sooooo honest 🙊

I have a stash of almond and pistachio Aldi's cheaper version, ostensibly for grandchildren when they're with us. Occasionally, I do a little skimming of that supply.

I love cherries & when some were in season I put a bowl of them on the sideboard.
DS1 (who was just walking) managed to find a chair & get to them & ate the lot. Cherry stones were coming through in his nappies for quite a few changes.
A kindred spirit, Witsend.

Oreo, have you discovered the new Magnum Bon Bons? They are bite sized discs of Magnum in a tub, and come in most flavours. Very moreish. Unfortunately one is never enough.

I a;lwsys keep something "chocolatey" in the fridge so if I fancy something at 11 pm it is there.

I dont like boxes of chocolates, but I could eat my way through a box of Maltesers without thinking about it.

Nannee49 Mon 29-Jun-26 19:44:28

Thanks for the recipe Marmin going to give it a try.

My current obsession is Aldi's dark chocolate with seasalt...I kid myself that it's good for me because of the (fairly) high cocoa content...hmmm...

I really shouldn’t have read this thread! Hopefully the cravings will pass before I do my shopping.

I just looked up the Magnum Bon Bons and they are not yet available here in Canada. It does make me crave a Magnum ice cream though. They are so decadent!

I was just at a restaurant buying a gift card for my son, and the bartender was making a Pina Colada. I haven't had one in years, but it looked so nice that I have a bit of a craving now. It's just not a drink you can mix up at home, so I will put it on my mental list for the next time I'm out. We are leaving on a holiday soon, so I'll treat myself to a fancy drink when I'm next out.
