Guys,

Good day to all! I'm a newbie here. I would like to know about your most favorite games nowadays. I love to play racing games a lot. What about you?

Thank you so much!

We like an American game called Mexican Train, which is played with double twelve dominoes. Great fun.

Scruples is a very good game, so is scrabble. I do not like monopoly though.

@overthehill, Upwords was a firm favourite in our house growing up!

Odd socks. Just matching pairs of socks but its really addictive. You can join a team of people on the same level. Hate to tell you how much time i waste playing it!

Dominoes with my nine-year-old grandson and general knowledge quizzes on my iPad /iPhone...

I do envy/admire all of you game players out there. I have never enjoyed any games, even as a child. I dread it when friends or family bring out a pack of cards or a board game. I offer to go and do the washing up or walk the dog!

Don't know where this comes from as my Mum, Dad and brothers used to love a game or two and my DH played games with our children . I tried to join in but shuddered at the thought and was always glad when it was over
Is it the having to wait your turn? Is it the competitive spirit I lack?

Am I alone in this? I suspect not but would be glad of a recommendation of a game I could enjoy. I'll be checking out some of your suggestions in this thread

I was not a game player even as a child. We had the usual board games but as I got older I disliked playing because my husband was fiercely competitive so playing games was not a good experience. I love quizzes and watch many on TV. Will be glad when lockdown is over as my daughter and I go out and quiz is often as we can.

Thankyou ladies -I've had a good chuckle over this thread

I love playing proper Canasta but have had to play it online this last year which is better than not playing it at all is my opinion wink
If anyone here wants an online game I would be happy to TRY to add u on my mobile phone for a game (I'm useless at technology but happy to TRY)

I also now play online Scrabble/Triominoes/Othello/Rummykub against the Internet which is better than going stir crazy with boredom stuck in these 4 x walls this last year ?

One of our recent favourites is Monopoly Deal. A quick game compared to the board version and is all about strategy. Keeps the grey matter going!

Dominoes with my grandchildren, ages 6 and 9, I remember playing with my grandfather as a child.

We go caravanning (or should I say did!) Some camping friends told us about Rummikub so we bought one. The DGC love it, the 7 year old can play it and the 12 year is very good at it and generally wins. Since we bought it another two camping friends have bought it and so has our daughter. Another one we have just got into, is Upwords like scrabble but building up to score points. Photo of Upwords.
Both can be played with just 2

I love Rummikub as well and was introduced to it on a camping weekend. It's a game that I play on my own now as I live on my own and I still enjoy it.

Board games - chess. But I have nobody to play with. :-( Video games - Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best game ever. The Assassins Creed new generation games are brilliant, starting with Origins. I'm currently playing Horizon, Zero Dawn, which I am enjoying. I enjoy story driven games, but a bit of good combat too. Not racing games, I'm afraid! I actually don't know anyone else of my age who is into video games. :-(

I think the OP may have been referring to computer games, but could be wrong?

One of my favourite board games for 4 (or more) players is Master Piece, the art auction game.

Have been trying to find it for years, exdh seemed to have it when we parted.

Have seen it listed occasionally on Ebay, but too expensive for me!

If anyone has it at the back of the cupboard, do dig it out and play, it's such fun, especially if you finish one game and start another, because the fakes and the high value cards change, so you are never sure what you're bidding for!

It's nice to see Maw laying into Spangler though - vintage stuff smile

For some mad reason this antiquated and rather odd thread has found itself in today's news letter confused

Sara1954 Wed 28-Apr-21 08:42:15

Well to be honest Fanny, I think some of the more complex rules of scrabble may have been broken.

FannyCornforth Wed 28-Apr-21 08:35:11

Sara you did well.
I can't imagine being able to exercise my vocabulary and spelling skills; imbibe; and coordinate getting my kit off.
I would have got in a right muddle!

Sara1954 Wed 28-Apr-21 08:31:44

Fanny
I know, but in my defence, it was over forty years ago, and alcohol may have been involved.

FannyCornforth Wed 28-Apr-21 08:14:36

Steady on Sara! Spangler (late of this parish) got a right ticking off for saying something similar!

Sara1954 Tue 27-Apr-21 22:20:51

I remember once playing strip scrabble, definitely adults only.

EkwaNimitee Tue 27-Apr-21 20:45:55

As for actual computer games, I was addicted to Civilization but it brought out the worst in me and I spent so many hours at it, I eventually kicked it off the computer.
